Dude, basketball starts sometime in February, about a week after we all decompress from National Signing Day.

Hope you're ranked when it tips off :)

I'd rather watch actual sports over the next couple of months than getting pumped for high school students signing and faxing documents.

Y'all making the dance this year? Besides Syracuse, did Martin step up beefing his schedule?

Meh. I'm cautiously optimistic but I expect us to lose games that we shouldn't lose (like 3 times to UGA last year).

Yes, we beat a ranked Mich team too. The way things look now, we will make a post season run, but we are thin on the roster so injuries could stop that.

SC
RPI - 12
SOS - 92

Kent
RPI - 20
SOS - 158

Lulz, you trying to troll the rpi and SOS? Get back to me at the end of December.

We have UCLA, UNC, Louisville, and Kansas to go.

ETA: I'll throw in Valpo and Hofstra on that list.

Beat Monmouth to who is supposed to win their conference. Also, Holy Cross who is supposed to contend for theirs. Still got Memphis, Clemson, and Seton Hall to boost OOC

Not sure why you're comparing UK's schedule to South Carolina's. South Carolina's projected OOC SOS is 43, so yeah, it's a good step up from last year.

Florida's projected OOC SOS is 4 and Vanderbilt's is 6 compared to UK's 14, so you can stop swinging your dick around regarding UK's schedule.

Obviously it's too early to say for sure that SC will make the tourney but they absolutely should. Just avoiding bad losses until SEC play and going 10-8 or better would likely get them in.

Pretty sure he was simply answering your question ...

Martin's scheduling last year was fine. He had no way of knowing the normally strong teams he scheduled would do poorly last season.

But yes, provided the teams he scheduled this year do well, as most traditionally have ... then this non-conf schedule is more than adequate with a few nice resume games included.

We've beaten Michigan at home, the team that shoehorned into the tourney ahead of us last March, and Syracuse on the road ... both ranked teams at the time.

We've done it with defense BTW.

Last season when the season started we had one of the worst SOSs in the SEC. Perhaps either or both Missouri and Miss St. had worse, but we were right down there with them. Was closer to 200 than 100.

When the SEC schedule began, we still had SOS anywhere from the 150s to the 200s, depending on who you referred to. We never cracked the top 100 in SOS last season, despite the great record. Our RPI was decent (in the 50s-60s) because of our great W-L record against that schedule, but it didn't get us cred SOS-wise.

And then we had bad losses to bad RPI teams, like Missouri, Miss St., Tennessee: those teams had decent SOSs, but bad records against those SOSs, so that definitely didn't help our own SOS to improve by not just losing, but losing while looking bad, against them.

They way I understand it, good RPI is only beneficial if it is compiled against good SOS, and good SOS is only beneficial if you have a strong W-L result against that SOS.

If you do, then your RPI will automatically be great. If you have a solid RPI, but only because you went 28-3 against a cupcake schedule, then so what? You SHOULD go 28-3 against them. If you played a Murderer's Row schedule, but go 12-18 against them, so what? You SHOULD have a losing record against them. Those don't give you a strong argument for rating the NCAAT.

We are in position to have around a top-50 SOS this season, with what we scheduled for the OOC and what the SEC will provide us. We just need to have another strong W-L overall, in the SEC, and avoid those bad losses to bad teams, and we'll be in strong position for the NCAAT....
