Not really. Yeah we lost Chad, but we lost multiple NFL draft picks, as well as a lot of depth in the secondary and linebacking corps. We aren't going to be rebuilding next year at QB (Pellerin and Patterson), RB (Swinney, Pennamon, Judd), WR (like 7 of them come back), OL (most are young-ish), DL (we lost DJ but no one else too significant), or the secondary (Almost every single starter is either a freshman or sophomore)

So nah this is more of a rebuilding year than next year would be due to the experience that we bring back.

Just a couple adjustments. Jordan Wilkins will be back in the backfield (if he's taking enough hours that is) and of course Gross will be gone on the D line.

Usually this weekend I'm pumped about playing LSU, but now I'm kinda like ok their next on the schedule. I just don't see myself jumping for joy like in the past if we win. Yes I will be happy if we do,just not over the top excited. No I haven't mailed this year in but I feel like 7 or 8 wins are what we hope to shoot for now this season and hope the next couple of years are exciting as some previous.
We have the depth for it and recruiting up to par, but we HAVE to have someone step up as a leader on these teams.

When I read in the Fall that Myles Harstfield was going to be starting for us, I knew our defense would suck.

Not a knock on Hartsfield, but he's a 3* freshmen that had been on campus for less than a year. That should have raised some flags.

Yeah, he said no one else significant.

Yeah I don't really consider this a rebuilding year. I consider it a lost year just like last year.

For all of our faults on defense, and I readily admit many are due to youth and talent, Freeze had the opportunity to put us up 4-0 to start the season in his last year with a proven QB. A huge missed opportunity.

I hope Hugh realizes he needs to cut the playing conservative crap after a 3 touchdown lead. I also hope Patterson in the prince that is promised, because if he isn't goo, next year is going to be awful.

Really? The only real losses on offense will be Kelly and Ingram. I don't have to tell yo who will replace Kelly and the receiving corp might be the best in the country next year. O line should be better. That combined with hopefully a stable of healthy and pretty good backs the run game should be much more of a threat. Defensively, almost the whole bunch will be back. We'll miss Haynes if he goes, but according to the experts he's as likely to maul the quarterback as much as be out of position in his gap. The defense should only get better overall; it can't get much worse.

As for the schedule, it's soooo much better than what we've faced this year. We start with South Alabama (I don't see us pulling a Cow U on that one), before hosting UT Martin and traveling to Cal. Could be 3-0 with just pretty good play. Then we have an off week before the toughest two weeks of the season, at Alabama and at Auburn. We have Vandy, LSU, Arkansas and A&M all at home. Kentucky on the road (certainly winnable), State there and UL Lafayette at home. Next year's schedule is so much more favorable than this year's.

I really don't see us being awful even if Patterson is just fair.

P.S. - We should be able to put all our efforts into each and every week because with the bowl ban there will be none. Every big game should be our bowl game. It's what good teams on a ban do.

I feel better about next year than I did this year. Lose Chad and Evan but Shea should be good. Feel the WR's will be better even if Stringfellow leaves with Quincy, just look at what the freshman have been doing this year. Offensive line will all be back except Conyers. Defense can't get worse, only lose DJ but I think Benito has played fantastic for a freshman and will step up big next year. LBS and secondary pretty much all return

Not too mention the RB's will be better with Swinney and Wilkins back, might even get a gift and add Cam Akers hopefully

Can't see String leaving. He hasn't done anything. See the "Bear" from MSU last season.

Hasn't Swinney torn an ACL now in each knee. Don't expect him to light it up. Most unfortunate.

I hate it for him, I thought he'd be our big back for the future when he signed. I believe he was the only back we recruited in his class. So if we miss on Akers we won't have a whole lot next year with Wilkins (assuming he gets his classes), Pennamon, and Brazley

Oh, and for the record, I'm not yet interested in next year. Surely to shite none of us have quit yet on this season with all these big games left to play. Regardless of what happens tonight.

^^^ I sure wish there wasn't quite so much negativity among so many in our fanbase. I've suffered through manny crappy ones as well.

The more I watch A&M struggle to run the ball against Alabama with all their resources sure makes me feel better about our own running deficiencies.
