Kinda thought that our team (though young in some areas) was better than what we are proving to be. Anyone else think that we were going to be better than this?

I think most did, that's why half the so-called "fans" have already mailed it in.

I predicted 9-3 before the season. I didn't expect us to look so bad defensively though. I would be thrilled with 8-4 at this point

Most of us thought the same. Losing core guys in the secondary has hurt the most (Elston, Hilton, Chief). Everyone thought Conner was going to come back and hold it down, but unfortunately his injury has taken a greater toll than predicted. LB has taken a step back but I expected that. Overall we are stretched thin on D with a lot of young unproven players. Hopefully this pays dividends the next two years.

This was never going to be "the year" for us. We knew (or should have known) that we would be rebuilding this season with the lack of linebacker support and what we lost in the secondary. I think its just the inconsistency that hurts our perception the most, but that's going to happen when you have a young team.

I'm mostly just tired of pretty much knowing opposing teams will convert on 3rd and long. It has to be extremely taxing on the defense both physically and mentally.

There's still a ton to be determined about this season. Saturday and especially next week at home will go a long way towards how we ultimately feel about this group of Rebels. I honestly feel between Florida State, Alabama and then at Arkansas we have played our toughest games. Arkansas is a matchup problem galore for us. If we didn't have to travel to both LSU and A&M things would "feel" much different. As is, we are going to need to be fundamentally solid and not make a bunch of mistakes to have a chance in those two games. The verdict is still out.

I think if the FSU and bama games had been close throughout, there wouldn't have been as much disappointment. Having 3 td leads on both and losing really hurt. I agree though, losing as much talent as we did was going to be hard to deal with this season. And honestly, losing Elston, Hilton, and CJ Johnson probably has hurt us more than any of the big 3. Tunsil certainly would have made this line a lot better, but speaks and benito Jones have done every bit as much as Robert did and with Engram's season has made up for the loss of Treadwell. However, I definitely thought we would have much better performances from Bridges, CJ Hampton, and all of the linebackers. They have been extremely disappointing. While Chad has not played as well this year as he did last year, I do think he has a lot more pressure on him so I don't fault him. While I still think we should play the young guys to get them ready for next season even if that costs us a game, I think the coaches can get these guys to turn it around and end the season with 8 or 9 wins and a good bowl.

I really thought kelly was going to make up for a lot of our faults. I guess I put to much stock in him.

After the way Chad ended the year last year I thought he was going to dominate the SEC and we were going to roll. Didn't think the defense could get any worse than last year. Honestly though no one could have seen Ken Webster going down the first series, along with Swinney blowing out his knee and Wilkins getting suspended. Fadol not playing up to this point has killed us as well.

Expected one of the 3 backs to break out this year and provide Kelly some help on the ground which hasn't happened because of injuries and suspensions. Kelly hasn't looked the same behind the sort of shaky offensive line which I guess I should have expected figuring he was at his best last season once Tunsil came back from suspension. All in all, it ended up being a rebuilding year. As long as Shea ends up as good as advertised, next couple years should be fun as long as the defense improves.

Our secondary is absolute garbage. Our running game is nonexistent.

If you thought our defense was going to be good in September /early Oct with the quality of opponents we faced you are a clown.

It was always hope the defense "survives" in the early season and hope they improve for a 2nd half run.

Most reasonable fans were going to accept 2-2 after the first 4 games. Yes, we coulda/shoulda/woulda won one or both of them, but realistically 2-2 was the safe bet.

Even at 2-2, the realistic fan should have known that we are too experienced to run the tables on out, so naturally we would drop another game or two.

I would accept 8-4 in a reloading year.

Wouldn't next year be more of a reloading year for you guys than this one?

Yeah I don't really consider this a rebuilding year. I consider it a lost year just like last year.

Not really. Yeah we lost Chad, but we lost multiple NFL draft picks, as well as a lot of depth in the secondary and linebacking corps. We aren't going to be rebuilding next year at QB (Pellerin and Patterson), RB (Swinney, Pennamon, Judd), WR (like 7 of them come back), OL (most are young-ish), DL (we lost DJ but no one else too significant), or the secondary (Almost every single starter is either a freshman or sophomore)

So nah this is more of a rebuilding year than next year would be due to the experience that we bring back.

I would assume Haynes and Stringfellow will leave early.

We are a much more talented team than Arkansas. They are just a lot better coached.
