Bored at work today so thought I'd look at next year's baseball roster

I didn't see as many games as I would have liked and don't know much about the signees other than what I've read so help me fill in/correct me. And obviously a lot of this depends on the draft and late signees to fill in the holes left

Current Roster

NO NAME B/T POS HT/WT YR-EXP HOMETOWN (Last School) Notes
1 DJ Miller R/R OF 6-2/188 FR-HS Madison, Ill. (Granite City HS) PG #338 Overall and #71 OF in 2015
2 Ryan Olenek R/R OF/RHP 6-5/170 FR-HS Winter Springs, Fla. (Trinity Prep) Will probably stay in OF and be very solid
3 Chad Smith R/R RHP 6-4/198 JR-JC McCalla, Ala. (Wallace State CC) Probably go Pro. If not, hopefully can figure it out
4 Tate Blackman R/R IF 6-0/190 SO-1L Altamonte Springs, Fla. (Lake Brantley HS) Probably come back. Woudn't mind seeing him move to 3rd if Bortles go Pro since he can't go to his right
6 Errol Robinson R/R IF 6-0/180 JR-2L Boyds, Md. (St. Johns College HS) Pro
7 Nick Fortes R/R C 6-1/202 FR-HS Deland, Fla. (Deland HS) Probably start or split time with Cooper/Dillard depending on who makes it to campus
8 Will Golsan R/R IF 6-1/180 SO-1L Columbus, Miss. (New Hope HS) Pretty average player at a position you expect offensive production and power. Could move to 2nd if Blackmon moves to 3rd and we have a power 1b
9 Kyle Watson R/R IF/OF 6-3/195 SO-1L Southaven, Miss. (DeSoto Central HS) imagine we will see Watson start at 2nd or OF
10 David Parkinson R/L LHP 6-2/211 SO-JC Henrico, Va. (Florence-Darlington Technical College) will be a weeknd starter and preferrably Sunday guy
11 Nic Perkins R/R C 6-4/230 SO-1L St. Charles, Mo. (Francis Howell HS) possibly see some DH time
12 J.B. Woodman L/R OF 6-2/195 JR-2L Orlando, Fla. (Edgewater HS) Pro

26 James McArthur R/R RHP 6-7/217 FR-HS New Braunfels, Texas (New Braunfels HS) Bianco thinks he will be a stud/ will hopefully figure it out and can be a weekend starter
27 Connor Cloyd L/R OF 5-10/185 SR-JC Maple Valley, Wash. (Tacoma) Graduated
28 Ray Alejo R/R IF 6-0/170 FR-HS Orlando, Fla. (Boone HS) #165 overall in 2015 and #22 SS. Fast and good arm. SS option?

Signees
Name B T Pos Ht/ Wt YR-EXP High School
Jason Barber R R RHP 6-0/ 190 Signee Oxford, MS pitches in upper 80's. Will see innings. Midweek option. Same as other Oxford pitcher
Korey Bell R R RHP 6-5/ 240 Signee Brentwood, TN low 90s FB
Bryce Blaum R R SS 5-11/ 185 Signee Sugar Land, TX ?
AJ Brown R R OF 6/2/ 211 Signee Starkville, MS Big potential but tough to play too sports. expecting a senquez type of baseball career
Thomas Dillard S R C 6-0/ 215 Signee Oxford, MS Might not make it to camus. If he does then he wil see time at C, OF, or DH
Will Ethridge R R RHP 6-5/ 210 Signee Lilburn, GA low 90s FB with big upside per PG. surprisingly only 98 Ks in 123 innings
Greer Holston R R RHP 6-4/ 215 Signee Long Beach, MS lows 90's RHP with very good breaking ball at PG National per PG
Cooper Johnson R R C 6-0/ 200 Signee Mundelein, IL Nobody expects him to make it to campus. Very good defense. Will play if he comes
Grae Kessinger R R SS 6-2/ 175 Signee Oxford, MS Potentially might not make it to campus, but probably will. Not a blazer but good arm and bat speed. could move to 2nd or 3rd
Ryan Rolison R L LHP 6-2/ 190 Signee Jackson, TN upper 80's LHP
Houston Roth R R RHP 6-3/ 200 Signee Oxford, MS pitches in upper 80's. Will see innings. Midweek option. Same as other Oxford pitcher
Bryan Seamster L L OF 6-0/ 175 Signee Keller, TX can't find much on him. But good baseball name
Thomas Spinelli L L LHP 6-1/ 220 Signee Ocala, FL upper 80's LHP
Jackson Tavel L L LHP 6-4/ 185 Signee Warrior, AL lanky lefty with low 90s FB. Big K #'s in HS
Trace Tyre R R 1B 6-3/ 230 Signee Clinton, MS 400 hitter in MS 6A. Only 5 HRs in HS total
Jacob Wilcher R R OF 6-3/ 205 Signee Corinth, MS hit over 400 every yr in HS and over 500 as a Sr. Decent speed. stuck in LF if he PG is correct and he only throws 80
Cole Zabowski L L 1B 6-5/ 215 Signee Lawrenceville, GA not finding much

Not finding much on who we signed in Juco but we did sign Brady Schanuel who is supposed to be a top Juco pitcher

Hopefully we have somebody develop and move Bramlett and Parkinson back a spot or two in the rotation but I'd guess the below start. We should have a very deep staff and pen next year but I don't see us having the 1 or 2 studs to take you 7+

SP Brady Bramlett
SP Parkinson
SP McArthur, Brady Schanuel, Johnson, Smith
Weekday McArthur, Brady Schanuel, Smith(if here), Johnson(if here)
RP Short(probably not), Stokes, Woolfork, Pagnozzi, Green, Feigel, Roth, Barber, Tavel, Ethridge, Rolison, and whichever 2 aren't starters

Pitchers better be good because the offense looks weak. I don't see a stud here that can carry the team just some good players, average players, and a lot of inexperience

Catcher Fortes and Dillard
1st Golsan. Don’t really have a true 1b. Maybe Perkins or Fitz
2nd Blackmon but could see a # of guys here if Bortles goes Pro and Blackmon to 3rd including Golsan, Watson, and Kessinger
3rd If Bortles goes pro I'd like to see Blackmon here. If not, maybe Fitzsimmons, Dillard (can he play 3rd), or Kessinger
SS Ray Alejo, Kessinger,
LF Dillard, AJ Brown, Wilcher
CF Watson
RF Olenek

Thoughts?

If Johnson makes it to campus, watch out.

Jason Groome decommitted from Vanderbilt and it's rumored he won't sign unless he's draft top 10. Wouldn't hurt to work on him.

Nevermind, Groome is going JUCO so he'll be eligible for the draft next year.

Just have to hope we don't lose more than 1 recruit to draft and hopefully Bramlett, Bortles, and Short come back.

Good analysis. If Kessinger makes it to campus, he will almost certainly be the starting SS from day one. That dude is slick with the leather.

We will lose Rolison, Johnson, and Kessinger IMO. Dillard is a possibility as well.

I see Bramlett and Bortles returning as well.

You're forgetting Timothy Rowe from ICC as well.

Blaum is a good player too.

Why would we lose Kessinger? I'm not questioning you, just wondering why.

The draft. I think he gets drafted within the first ten rounds, and that means he is 95% gone.

Think Bramlett, Blackman & Bortles will return. Curious how the lineup will work out because if they do come back then SS is the only infield position w/o a returning starter, but I would like to see Fitzsimmons & Dillard get ABs for the power potential.

Catcher is gone too. King Lartigue

Dillard and cooper will split that with the backup catcher from last season.

And we have the stud SS coming in to take errols spot and will play as a freshman like Errol.

Should be a great team next year with all of the pitching and position players returning And young freshman bats coming in
