Wanted to see how Chaney called a game against a strong defense like the ones we will face in the SEC. He does a great job of mixing it up in the first drive and I love the play he pulls with the QB on 3rd and 1 at about 11:40. What do you guys think about him as an OC? I trust Smart decision just hope we get more from our offense compared to last season

It was interesting. Could have had a TD in their first drive but the WR dropped the pass. In his defense, the DB had a small piece of his jersey, but the pass should have been caught. Chaney did mix it up between runs up the middle and to the outside, but only threw the ball on third down. I would like to see him throw it a bit on other downs as well, but I only watched the first drive. He does seem to get creative with his plays.

The play you mentioned at 11;20, was very nice. Reminded me of the play we used to run with David Greene (I believe it was) where he faked the hand off and turned his back to the LOS walking away, then turning and throwing a pass.

Stafford and Murray have run that play too (Stafford vs VT in 2006 Peach Bowl, Murray vs Ole Miss in 2012). I can still remember Cheney calling a fantastic game against us in 2012 when he was with Tennessee. Arkansas fans say he doesn't adjust well in game. We'll see.

Ah! Thanks! I thought I had seen it from more than one of our QBs. Seems like one of them ran it more than the others, but I honestly don't remember which one.

That Murray to brown play against ole miss is one of my favorite touchdowns Murray had during his career

Greene ran it the most, and he was clearly the best at it. Just off the top of my head, DG ran it:

-02 vandy
-03 tech
-04 SC
-04 UT

Pretty sure 01 AU is the first time we've done that specific play that richt brought with him from FSU.

Stafford ran it against Tennessee once as well. He almost died.

IIRC Murray got his clock cleaned when he ran it against Ole Miss, but still got the TD pass off.

One of those plays that sticks inside your head. You can't run it too often or it would get somebody killed.
