I'm pretty sure they've already started the one in Tuscaloosa (Northport). There was a floodplain issue for a while.

Basically a structured equivalent of renting a house for football season.

There have been a whole bunch of little boutique bed and breakfast type places open up the last 2-3 years in Tuscaloosa geared towards parents visiting their kids and football weekends.

While not as commercialized we have some of those type things in Fayetteville. At first I thought you were discussing a hotel that was connected/overlooked the football stadium. Now something like that would be amazing....similar to the plans MSU has for their baseball stadium.

They've got something like this in Athens- downtown across from the Arches. It's a pretty cool model, not a scam, but for rich folk. I'd have one if I had 1 less wife and 2 less kids!

There are a few on the river on Jack Warner Pkwy that are fine places to rent/stay for game weekends.

The OP is a done deal and they are doing the dirt work now.

They should ferry people across the river and build an elevated pedestrian bridge over Jack Warner.

That's our first 5-star hotel in Tuscaloosa. Hotels used to be terrible in Tuscaloosa, resulting in people staying in Birmingham and making the drive on gameday. Now, since the Embassy Suites hotel open downtown, we're getting this hotel, a Hotel Indigo, and have also recently got Home 2 Suites.

That drive is fricking nuts on gameday. I've made the gameday commute from Montgomery to Tuscaloosa and back many times. I can literally leave Tuscaloosa and make it back to Momtgomery in half the time it takes my brother-in-law to get back to Mountain Brook from the game.
