Piggybacking on the institution that he probably would not have gotten into had he not been a football player. He acts as if his being the coach of their football team puts him in a position to be pretentious about his place in higher academia. The south struggles mightily in public education and it needs to be addressed, but just because we have only a few elite in institutions does not mean we do not send many students on to universities in other parts of the country. 1/5 of his football team is from the southeast and he just sounds bitter that he can't draw them to Stanford even with its amazing academic reputation.

I'm saying that getting into and graduating from Stanford is much less impressive as an athlete.

He didn't make that comment about the SEC, but something tells me that isn't important to you.
Hoss.
Hoss.

Well, he did fool them by posing as Derek Mason.

I've met a lot of dumb people from California.
And I'm not talking politics. Just outright dumb folks.

What has he said that was wrong? He gets a majority of his kids from California and rarely gets more than one kid from any other state each signing class. He mentioned he signed two from Maryland and two from Florida I believe last class and then no more than one from other states.

Wrong. Being a D1 athlete and able to get into Stanford is a fine accomplishment. Your skin is thin.

I think the OP calling Shaw an idiot is reaching...
However, his roster is comprised of 21 kids from the South (quite a few kids from Louisiana and Georgia actually).

No he doesn't and it isn't close at all.
ESPN has 94 players listed for the 2015 Stanford team. California accounted for only 27 of them. That's more than any other single state, but only slightly more than a quarter of the team.

Then he's a really bad liar. That 94 man roster has 22 players from SEC states with 7 from Georgia and 5 from Texas.

He was Harbaugh's OC. It's not like they picked up some random alum looking for a coaching job.

Not disagreeing, but he was on the Finebaum show yesterday discussing it. He mentioned he rarely signs more than one kid per state per year. Over 4 years, your numbers are probably about right. He did say he has signed two from Maryland, Texas, and Florida recently.

Former Stanford provost, Condi Rice, is from Birmingham coach Shaw.
