I must have made it through all 5 or so of the stages of disappointment and loss with our program because I've reached the point of being mad at being mad. I'm tired of the negativity around the program (my own thoughts included).

And it dawned on me why I'm so pissed.

I really wish Gus had not said we just need to get 13 seconds better after the Fla St game. There was no need to promise that "We're going to go back" to the national championship.

And therein lies my advice to the youngsters:

whether it's your job, the hours you're going to be away from your wife fishing, the GPA you promise your tuition paying parents you'll achieve, etc....

Under promise and over deliver!

Not sex. Always over promise with sex. Nobody is going to drop their panties if you tell them you are going to give them the most mediocre roll in the hay they've ever had. Shoot for the moon and if you don't live up to expectations it's too late for them to do anything about it.

I'd rather just promise and deliver.

At this point, Auburn fans expect it whether he promises or not.

Alabama has won 4 NC, Auburn has been to 2 NC and we have the coach that got us to those two. Expectations are to win big, no one would be happy with four straight 10win seasons if we didn't win anything.

Is it bad that I would lock in at 10 regular season wins the next 4 years and conceded that we wouldn't make the CFP?

That's why it's usually smart to not say anything at all.
