If by some miracle, Richt were to resign, would the Dawg Nation want Kirby Smart? Just thinking out loud.

As a "first choice"? No. But if shite started going bad during the process, yes to him as a fail-safe.

Promote Pruitt or hire Fuente. Just depends on how much Pruitt has nagged and pissed off McGarity and the folks in charge of the hiring decision.

I would take Kirby over Richt at this point.

Kirby would have made a better hire than Schitty.

If Richt goes, Smart will be offered the job. Im not saying I agree with it but I would bet anything that they call him first if he is still available

I would be okay with a "Defense first" perspective from the top down. Smart and Pruitt likely back together? I'd take that. Both are top level recruiters. We'd likely stay Pro Style, and we'd just need a high profile OC.

At that point, I'd prefer an OC who is an OL guy and just have a QB coordinator work directly with the signal callers.

He certainly looks like he has more fight in him than Richt does

The only way Pruitt is at UGA after Mark Richt leaves is if he is Head Coach. He came to UGA to coach for Richt and I doubt he will stay as DC if Kirby, Bobo, or anyone else comes back to coach

So again...the mystery of Richt...

If CMR is such a clown then why did Pruitt want to come and work for him? He's on the inside and had to be privy to inside coaching Intel. If Richt is the buffoon that everyone on here believes - why would a young up and coming coach make the move to come and work for him?

Pruitt is not a good coach...he is a typical Mark Richt coordinator....if he has the right people in place he does a decent job....he is never going to have the right people at every position at UGA because we are always taking the 4 or 5 picks in the conference. If Pruitt were worth a frick he could coach anyone and take advantage of their talent.

If Richt is still around in 3 years and Pruitt manages to stay also we will be cussing him like Martinez and Grantham. Many of us were all over Grantham's jock in years 1 & 2.....

I would disagree. Our secondary is a lot more aggressive and successful than under Grantham with mostly underclassmen. Also I think we're getting better against the run than in the past. Grantham was better at LB pass blitzing but other than that I thin Pruitt is doing a good job with the talent we have. We just can't leave them on the field all fricking game.

But even if he does suck...he was still a coach with a ring and an up and comer...that chose to come work for Richt. Why?

Its pretty clear he wasn't happy with the talent level when he came, hence all the true freshmen playing. And his defense hasn't been perfect at all (hasn't been helped by the offense in any way, shape, or form at all either) but I also feel like there's hope watching the defense. They're playing better as the season goes on, didn't we have 3 true freshman DBs in at once for most of the game yesterday?

Not saying Pruitt is the answer to all of our problems but at least his side of the ball has been improving and isn't stuck in a tailspin with no end in sight.
