position, he is a head coach today at SC rather than updating his resume on the plains.

Would that be a good thing for him?...

He'd likely be out of a job by seasons end (assuming the new hc wouldn't hire him)

Just wait till Steele coaches the "chavis" out of your defense.

Why would USCe have made Muschamp the interim over other options?

I can assure you Muschamp took into consideration that Spurrier didn't have that much longer left, and he still went to Florida. He doesn't want that job.

edit: auburn not florida

I doubt he would have gotten promoted. Champ still has to work his way back up, imo.

He is talking about last season when Muschamp got fired from UF. Muschamp had 3 main offers: AU, aTm, and USCe. He chose AU, but if he would have chosen to be Spurrier's DC, he might be HC today (which is OP's contention). I disagree that he would have gotten promoted.

As bad as he might have been, he does at least have HC experience.

he may still be in the mix for the HC at USC light. I would not have him on my A list but who knows. He would surely be on their B list. Steve Jr. may be in the mix

Yeah, you realize "that other" USC made Orgeron interim head coach in practically the same circumstances; Muschamp would have been a no-brainer.

Muschamp will turn things around at AU with some time. Ellis Johnson left him with a big mess. If he had gone to USC, he would be unemployed at the end of the year. The new HC will want to clean house and the last thing he would want is a former HC on staff.

Would it be a good thing for Muschamp to the head coach of USCe right now? He needs to let everyone forget how bad he is not be a hot garbage this soon again. It's bad enough he looks like he was not the master behind UFs defenses. Both of his DCs are showing him up right now badly.

Or maybe he coaches up the D, they win more and Spurrier is still the HC.
