I'm not bragging, just stating a simple fact that belongs in this shitty disingenuous thread. I scoff at a fricking Engineer clock monkey who thinks he is the shite because he started off at 85k when he was 23. Big freaking deal. I brought home $252 a week. And I should have paid them. The starting point is just that. After that, academic credentials are...well...academic.
Bragging about your school's "earning power" is a sure sign that you aren't a real earner.

Guess my Bama degree worked out since I make more than the average Vandy grad.

Those numbers are bogus on "average" starting salaries. Half the students have worthless degrees that are worth about $7.25 an hour. The other half can't be averaging $80,000 to get around a 40 to $45,000 average per school.
It's simply a measure of central tendency; and it's probably very close to being spot-on--at least in terms of showing an overall trend.
I don't care how or where a university is ranked, one-half of an institution of higher education's graduates are not earning $7.25 an hour.
Chances are much better that the majority is clustered around that mean score.

Well the data is from payscale.com, so it's all self-reported numbers. Make what you will of it

just like the other thread, the means don't tell you crap unless you post the deviations with them.
Most of the SEC probably overlaps

I don't agree that they're "crap" w/o SDs; but I agree w your general point.
I was commenting on the prior poster's implication that the posted averages were nothing but measures of two groups of outliers.

Yup, I helped keep this down back in the day. My starting salary back in the 90s was low $20K.
