Real rivalry is built upon on-field beat downs and nail-biters and the general ebb and flow of decades of competition. Trolling is somewhat humorous but after a while wears thin. As a longtime Mizzou fan I watched an always hot rivalry with Kansas descend into something ugly. It reached a point of no return long before Mizzou bolted for the SEC. I'm glad it's over and hope it's never rekindled.

It's over when you arrive at a mindset that devalues any accomplishment your rival achieves. For a rivalry to be meaningful there should at least be mutual respect.

Shouldn't you be outside trying to prevent others from burning your neighborhood down right about now?

Is this your way of explaining why nobody in the SEC is willing to be your rival?

Shouldn't you be worrying who your cousin took out tonight?

I agree, and think it's ridiculous to try to gin up hate.

When you mention rivalry with Kansas, I'm assuming you're more interested in basketball.
With that, does it make the rivalry worse, or better, by playing twice, possibly 3 times, a year, instead of just once in football?

Enh most Hog fans poke fun at Mizzou the same way we do every other fan base in the SEC and quite a few outside it... without any particular malice. I imagine most of us don't have any particular problem with Mizzou and even enjoy watching you pants the SEC East.

At least, like Texas A&M, you respond to our cheerful insults with trash talk of your own.

Not even close IMO, but I'll keep reading.

Sure. Mostly. Dale is a soulless jagoff, however, and I don't feel the least twinge of remorse.

I think arkansas actually likes Mizzou. Nobody in the SEC benefitted more from expansion with A&M/Mizzou than arkansas.

We wanted some other schools in the conference that when we say something like "Yeah, we had a bad year at football, but at least we don't have to put up with Texas." we would get a few knowing looks and heartfelt nods.

Course, I still want to run y'all off the field and deliver an Ole Miss sized beating... but if that happens you can say to yourselves "Could be worse, could be putting up with Texas."

Exactly

Plus, geographically arkansas went from outlier to firmly in the footprint by adding nearby Mizzou and A&M

I actually agree with this. For example, Harvey Updyke had so much respect for Auburn's plains that he cleared the trees off before it became a jungle.
