Think about what makes college football and especially SEC football so special. Your rivalries or enemies in the conference. There are so many great rivlries associated with the SEC that go back 100+ years. I was born in the late sixties so I don't recall Ole Miss as a rival to LSU. I have heard stories about it growing up but it didn't register with me because Ole Miss has pretty much sucked hard in my lifetime of following LSU football. This is unncharted territory for me as an LSU fan but I'm excited to see this historic rivalry rekindled.

We'll revisit this when you lose on Thanksgiving night.

Without enemies, it would just be a game

You just proved my point. If we lose to TAMU on Turkey Day, it will just prove that what I am saying is true. The pain of that loss will suck but the prospect of winning and feeling that high is what keeps dragging you back in.

CheeseburgerEddie with a valid point.

It would be boring.

Without Clemson, your football life isn't nearly as fun.

You're exactly right, we do need our enemies. Without that we have nothing. That is why the passion for football is so fricking crazy in the SEC. I remember once in the late 60's we had an LSU fan in the neighborhood that lived down the street. Ole Miss won the game that year and my dad and another neighbor planted the score, (3 ft #s) in rye grass in LSU dude's yard. That is a rivalry.

Over the past 5 years, it has been a riot. Prior to that, just long standing suffering at the hands of the taters. They don't like the roles being reversed and it makes it all that much more delicious. And they're reveling in us being down right now. Spurrier will game plan his arse off for that game. We'll beat them again this year, down or not. They're a smoke and mirrors team that plays in a jv conference.

Exactly! All these teams that hate on the SEC..I dare them all to play even 1/2 of the schedule that SEC teams play.

They'd scurry along back to their inferior conferences with their tails between their legs and never speak a negative word about their daddy again.
