Watching it now. Might have scored a TD on that first drive if Sims doesn't throw that ball at Cooper's ankles. Still thought he had a good game overall though.

True, a couple of drives were stalled because of bad throws. At the same time, he kept a lot of drives alive with good throws and decisions.

Yep. With time will come consistency.

Listening to Sims' post game interview, he said they didn't name him the starter, just that he'd play this game. Gonna be hard for Coker to beat him out, Sims had a good game. But the next two weeks should be fun with those two pushing each other.

Just say the jump ball over Sylve in the 3rd qt. How in the hell he didn't turn around and go after the ball when the receiver started slowing and adjusting his body is beyond me. WTF?

Sylve was literally the worst player on the field for us yesterday

I had a group of people over yesterday and timed supper to be ready by halftime. Unfortunately, I missed quite a few plays tending to the smoker. Here's my review.

QB
Outside of the missed passes that would have kept drives going(I counted at least 3) I think Sims had a very good 1st game as a starter! 73% completion rate by any QB is good. I wish #22 would have caught the long bomb that would have improved Sims stats even more so. Sims ability to avoid the sack and pick up yards will be huge in future games. To have a "great" game he'll need to throw a TD or two and complete a few deep balls.

OL
Better than expected, but too many penalties.

RB
All RBs looked good but not using Drake more was disappointing.

WR
Cooper had a great game and almost a record for Bama's WRs. Hope White (#2) gets better soon. He had a good game as well.

Defense has to improve and I believe they will. Too many missed tackles. #11 is still catching passes all over the field.

KR/Punter
Excellent work by both new starters.

What was your assessment?

We have absolutely got to start bringing more pressure on the QB. If we can't bring pressure with 4, gotta start blitzing more. Aggy will destroy us if we don't pressure Hill. They would have beaten us as bad as they did the gamecocks yesterday

also LC needs to have a couple similar hits against A&M early so those receivers will start to hear footsteps.

I think our offense, regardless of who is the QB, has a chance to do major damage this year. As far as the defense, I think not having CJ Mosely will hurt because Ragland, Foster, Trey strike me as the "Bully" type of LBs, hopefully someone can come along and be that mid level depth lb we need. Our D-Line will get better with time and the depth will make Bama a nightmare in upcoming weeks. I was one of the guys in Cy Jones corner, cause as a former FCS DB, I knew how hard the transition would be and to be honest he looked pretty good against WVU. He was a pretty sure tackler and found himself playing "through" the ball in goal line situations. I think he will improve and shock some of the Bama fan base. As far as Bradley goes, Tony, Marlon, Mo, might have to get some looks over him. Cyrus earned the benefit of doubt because of it being his first year, but Bradley is a 2-3 yr DB who should know what to do. Overall this first game was decent, but should light a fire under our guys to let them know nothing is given.
