Did the '92 title game really change college football?

What impact did the 1992 SEC Championship Game really have on the world of college football? Alabama and Florida had the night to themselves as there was no other game of significance on national television that evening. Did the sheer epicness of the game, combined with the fact that a team that had a shot to play for all the marbles escaped with its life, combine to make the game into what it is today as far as the commercial product is concerned?

I was at that game, and in the endzone that Langham ran the pick 6 into. That place was absolutely insane.

I was there. Thanks to the G-parents.
I remember Florida running that delay draw play the whole game.

I don't think the Big 12 should be allowed to play a game the same week of the ACC, SEC, PAC12, and B1G championship games.
Round robin or not, they shouldn't get to have their psuedo championship played the same weekend.
