Let’s start by dismissing this notion that college football players get arrested only in Athens. There are bad kids, dumb kids and entitled kids everywhere. There are kids who’ve broken laws since the age of 12 because they never were forced to realize the consequences of their actions. There are kids who believe sprinkling (medical) marijuana on their morning Cocoa Puffs is harmless — and the only possible remedy for their anger-management issues.

Smoking pot doesn't make you a bad kid. Choking your girlfriend does, but let's not act like Taylor is the norm of kids UGA is recruiting. That's a disservice to the 80 or so guys who are doing it mostly the right way.

I stopped reading once I saw that.

It's amazing this cock gobbling thunder count is still employed. I've shite turds with more objective non-biased substance than anything this buffoon has written. He hates UGA and blows a premature nut every time our team has a mishap. That's all you need to know.

"Jeff Schultz Still Sucking Too Many Cocks"

By Crispy

Jeff Shultz sucks, on average, a baker's dozen dicks a day. Let's start by dismissing the notion that all cock suckers are cum guzzling addicts with a hunger for cock so great he sometimes sucks 3, 4, even 5 at once. There are cock suckers everywhere, just none as big as Schultz. He's been gobbling on man meat since the age 12 with a passion and vigor that made Linda Lovelace look like Susie Shallowthroat. I hear he sprinkles cum on his coco-puffs. frick Jeff Shultz...right in the face.

UGA's problem is mostly around alcohol, weed, or women (i know, most peoples problems, right?). UGA players aren't kicking military guys in the head when knocked out, they aren't firing assault rifles in public, etc. Also, other than failing a drug test for weed, or just admitting to it (JHC), the main problem is ALCOHOL!! Downtown athens should be off limits to all football players, as it seems to be the main thing to get you in trouble. You get drunk and act like a fool, and stupid shite can happen.

If Athens wasn't such a great college town, then this wouldn't happen as much.

That's inhumane. I'm willing to deal with the suspensions if the alternative is stripping people of that experience.

Seriously though, the effect that that would have on recruiting would be much worse than any problems we currently face.

I was Downtown recently and the bars were infested with football players, and people were buying them drinks and treating them like royalty. You take a kid who's from Adel, GA and treat him like that, he's gonna believe that he's bullet-proof. Problem is some athletes generally don't have the responsibility of studying like real students. So they can party like their hair's on fire. Then they go home and beat whoever's there. Athens is a victim of it's own success.

Editorials don't have to be objective and unbiased. It's not news.

That said, Jeff Shultz is an assclown frickwit.

But can't that be said for any other big-time school?

When I first saw this scene, I told my wife that would make an awesome gif...and indeed it has.

That's pretty damn inaccurate. Some guys may not take it as seriously as others, but that's true for most of the college population. They're required to study and pass their classes (unlike UNC, UGA doesn't frick around with athletes and academics. You pass on your own or your don't play. Period.). And given their schedules day-to-day, I highly doubt they have any time to be partying any more than someone else. The problem is, these are either very sheltered (as in, from very small areas) and/or very competitive individuals that have access to an incredible college scene. The vast majority handle that access responsibly. Where you have problems are the guys who get done with their jam-packed day or week of class and practice and immediately take it out on the nearest bottle. Each guy has his own reasons for why he thinks that's acceptable, but they're often self-destructive or a coping mechanism. Playing college football at any major program is not the ultra-luxurious, comfortable life we fantasize it to be. For an 18 year old that was expecting that fantasy, it can be jarring and disconcerting. They can feel lied too or feel that they're not doing it right so they need to overcompensate at the bar or club.

All in all, it's unfair to judge a team of 85 or all college players at large in a vacuum. Each one brings their own demons and strengths to the table and each one has to figure out how to deal. Richt knows that. Every college coach and administrator on every campus in America does. It's a farce to put the issues of all college athletes on one coach and one program and then call them ignorant to the fact these kids have issues in the first place.

2/3s of our issues are self inflicted and are directly related to our own drug and alcohol testing policy.

The bulk of the rest are that our AD has no 'control' over ACCPD and UGAPD.

It used to be in Athens that DUIs and bar fights were reported to Coach T and on to Coach Dooley. Most stuff like this was handled by the early AM stadiums with coach T. Parking tickets were handled. Most speeding tickets were handled and license and insurance issues did not end up in arrest. They didn't.
Players stealing from players or other athletes in McWhorter did not involve police. Running the book scam did not involve police.

Things have changed in Athens. I feel pretty strongly that they are not this way in a lot of other towns.

I am not condoning any of this behavior and beating up girls does not fall under what I discussed above. It's only real relation is that it is tied to the "problems" with our players and program.

Again, most of this is self inflicted and the difference is the environment, not the players or their actions when they are compared to other programs.

I'm referring to the players with low IQs who have no classroom skills at all (the ones who make you cringe when they're interviewed). They make up about 20% of college football players. They take easy classes and still can't get by. Yes, all schools have them. UGA's problem is that it has the best downtown in the NCAA, very accessible to these players. And if your major is "African-American Studies" (yes, it's a major), you don't have to leave a bar early to go and cram. I have a feeling that AU and Bama have personal escorts for these types of student-athletes. Thus you don't have the issues.
