for business

quote:

We score all 50 states on 56 measures of competitiveness, developed using input from business groups, economic development experts, companies and the states themselves. States receive points based on their rankings in each metric. We then separate those metrics into 10 broad categories, weighting the categories based on how frequently they are cited in state economic development marketing materials. That way, our study ranks the states based on the criteria they use to sell themselves.

The Peach State is the cream of the crop for 2014, with the nation’s best workforce and the top infrastructure. But education and quality of life remain weak spots.

They have nothing to do with our crappy education system and quality of life rankings. Most of the brighter students have fled to charter schools or private schools, creating bad test scores in our public schools. which is what these rankings are based on. Quality of life rankings are hurt because of our transportation and traffic problems.

What does "FTW" mean in this context. I think I know, but I'm originally from the Coastal Plains.
