What's our OL 2 deep gonna look like?

We can pretty much count on Skipper at LT, Cook at RT, and Kirkland at RG.
Where do we have position battles and who are they players involved?
LG - Cameron Jefferson 6-6 305 SR Transfer from UNLV; John McClure 6-4 330 SR; Sebastian Tretola 6-5 315 JR; Marcus Danenhauer 6-5 320 JR; Mitch Smothers 6-4 310 JR
C - Luke Charpentier 6-4 320 SR; Cordale Boyd 6-3 305 SO; Mitch Smothers 6-4 320 JR; Grady Ollison 6-5 310 JR; KNARF 6-6 300 FR
I think Tretola, Wallace, and Ragnow could all 3 push Brey Cook for playing time. Beck, Danenhauer, McClure, and Stringer seem to all still be on the roster for APR and depth reasons. I'm glad we should no longer have walk ons starting for multiple seasons on the line and being worried how one injury could wreck the entire line.
I just keep thinking to myself that every day is one day closer to having all of the Petrino recruits rolled off the roster.

I might include Brian Wallace in the battle for LG instead. I think Pittman proves last year when he put a 6'10 guy at guard that he is serious about putting the best 5 on the field. If Wallace is as good as advertised then they won't keep him on the bench. Just a thought.

You know, if they think that Cook would be a natural LG/RG in the NFL, then why not try putting Jefferson at RT, and moving Cook back to guard? Plus, and I'm for sure not saying they'd do this, but read what Walsh said about guards making calls. Cook would have the most experience by far. . .just throwing that out there. If that happened, if Ragnow is better than the others, plug him in at center*.
*Granted, he went through spring camp, but I'm pretty sure USC-w is seriously entertaining having a true freshman start at C.

Pencil Jefferson in at LG. That's how we got him. He is a starter from day 1.

I feel like that (Jefferson at LG) is a given, too.
We've got some guys that have been around a while that really need to step it up this year - Ollison, Boyd, Charpentier or they are going to find themselves behind a true freshman.
ETA - And what about Danenhauer, is he going to pan out? And is Koelher pretty much done?

Agreed. Our set starters will be:
LT: Skipper
LG: Jefferson
RG: Kirkland
RT: Cook
The only outlier is Center, and both Pittman and Bert were on record that one of the selling points with Knarf was the ability to come in and compete for the starting job at Center. I know that's said a lot with recruits, but they were emphatic that he had the ability to play. Given the spring game, I think it's a toss up between him, Charpentier and Boyd, but I could see them being leery of going with Charpentier if Ragnow is even remotely ready.

This might be a really dumb idea, but what about trying d'appollonio at center?
Long snapping has to be a lot different than snapping it to the QB though obviously

Not sure if serious, but he's like 6'0, 230, and LS don't have to block.

It worked on NCAA.
Really though, with Swanson (and small) gone we could see more runs to the outside this year than last. Not sure what our % was on outside vs. inside runs last year but Marshall's speed will help him there at least.
I can't wait to see how Skipper plays at LT, love his mean streak

Figured you were kidding, but I had to cover my bases since I saw someone say something similar on Hogville (seriously) a while back.
What's funny (nay, sad) is that if you bring up the height/weight/strength disparity, some old timer will inevitably jump in with the "durrr in my day we were small but we went low and used technique and won state!" tripe that makes him look even more ridiculous. Yeah, I'm sure AD can just go low and keep his own against Auburn, Bama and LSU without J-Will, Collins and Korliss getting beasted on in the backfield.
