I guess I missed this. I thought they had like 3 or 4 restaurants total. Are we a cradle of entrepreneurship around here?

quote:

To this point, though, there hasn’t been an Arkansas-based restaurant that has really caught on nationally.

Fayetteville-based Slim Chickens, however, is vying to become that iconic Arkansas restaurant chain.

The company currently operates locations in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, and will soon open its 14th restaurant on Wedington Drive in Fayetteville.

With franchise commitments already signed for 21 additional restaurants across the midwest and Texas
, the company is well on its way to becoming the first nationally-known fast food chain from The Natural State.

That's funny. I sold my .243 to, who I would call the regional manager, back in early 2011. He gave me some free meals and a couple camo hats with the slim chickens logo. Used to be the only place id get my wings from, but it kept being a pain having to drive into Rogers just to get them. Now they moved their locations. Its by Pinnacle Mall with all the other restaurants.

Their fees to start are rather expensive. Seem to be much more than Subway.

Ate at the one in Hot Springs today. Was okay. Cayenne Ranch was a good dip for the strips.

I went to UA and my brother didn't -- my mom would always throw some Slims gift cards in my Christmas stocking during college, and my brother always talked about how he just never understood the to-do about a chicken place (he lives in Little Rock). Fast forward a few years to when they put in by UAMS and now he's eating there like twice a week

It was always clutch to have a buddy working there. Limping through the drive through to order a Slim's Plate that miraculously contained 9 chicken strips always made the hangovers hurt a little bit less.

I guess I need to try it again. I was rather underwhelmed when I ate there.

ETA: Is there something besides tenders I'm supposed to get?

Tenders shaken in sauce, side of Cayenne Ranch.

You're welcome

EDIT -- I've heard their wraps are pretty good too, which isn't surprising. I've just never gotten anything other than the Hungry Plate.
