reading their board makes me feel kinda bad for them. but then again, they were talking so much shiet when we were having an off-season from hell, so maybe they deserve this.

I have a lot of kin in Kentucky, and my cousin Derrick is as big a Wildcat fan as they come. And after the game Saturday, I heard something in his voice I've never heard before. Despair. I think a lot of the anger comes from the perception(reality?) that Tennessee has hit rock bottom with nowhere to go but up. And still beats Kentucky by double digits, with a future star QB in Bray. It could be that too many fans put all of their chips into a win THIS season and it didn't happen...but yes, there's anger all around.

it's better than losing to them. and it's also the current active longest streak in the entire FBS.
UK fielded decent team for the last several years. they beat national championship winning LSU in 07, and they beat UGA, Auburn, and others on a regular basis.

wait a damn second..dont get it twisted..kentucky doesnt beat auburn and georgia on a regular basis..just because kentucky beat auburn last year doesnt mean they beat them "on a regular basis"

Would have been interesting if they had gone up 14-0 instead of fumbling at the GL. Then UT takes it 80 yds to tie it up.

I thought they split the series with UGA since 2006. they also beat Ole Miss, Miss State, Arkansas, South Carolina, LSU, etc. they pretty much beat everybody at least once except for UT and Florida.

This is really hard to believe. Kentucky beat them twice in the 70's and had won in '81 before the 1984 win. Had a couple of wins in the early 60's and throughout the 1950's.
In addition to the losing seasons in 1988,2005 and 2008 Tennessee had some 6-5 or similar teams,too. It just doesn't seem to matter; UT will win that game.

UGA is 49-12-2 all time against UK. UGA has only lost 3 times to UK in the last 20 years...I would hardly call that a "regular basis".

We've had a legit shot to beat UT the last few years, but have always found a way to snag defeat from the jaws of victory.

Because they were even worse. And even though we had some really rough years, we also had some pretty good ones. Years that under Richt would be considered bad, were actually considered good under Donnan. Your 8-4, 9-3 type seasons.

The streak is a function of a few things: first of all, it gets mention because Notre Dame lost to Navy in 2007, making Tennessee-Kentucky the longest active winning streak in football. Second, Tennessee has very little to hang their hats on these days, so the streak is a nice thing to point out where we actually do something notable. Third, the streak's foundation was built on Kentucky being absolutely dreadful in the 80s and 90s.
Now that Kentucky is finally not awful, the streak gets way more attention and Tennessee has firmly planted itself inside the Wildcat Nation's collective head.
