Stop the run and make the game manager QB beat you on defense, and on offense, sling it around and hope you hit enough big plays to outscore them? Obviously an oversimplification, but I’ve been curious about the opposing perspective from UGA’s side.

You dont stop the run by throwing numbers at the line of scrimmage.

If you want to beat uga, your defensive front 4 has to control the line of scrimmage. Clemson did it until depth issues surfaced. Florida had success for almost a half. The UGA running game can be contained in the trenches.

If that happens, then you play shell coverage behind it (clemson did this). Bend but dont break. And win the battles in the redzone.

Force uga's offense to be perfect marching down long, plodding drives.

People do not understand how explosive we are passing when given man coverage matchups.
2nd fewest pass attempts in conference.
3rd most pass plays 25+ yards.
Best ypa passing in conference.
40 ppg but only throwing 30 times in the 4th quarter all season (all QBs).

Truth. To this point in the season, the worst thing an opposing DC can do is sell out to stop the run. That's how we found out that Bowers, McConkey and some of the others were such potent downfield weapons.

Yeah, we really haven't been dominant running the ball and we don't have a future NFL RB1 in the backfield like in the past, but we've been so consistent out pounding out 4-5 yards a carry that it starts wearing teams down.

Clemson knew what was coming every play on the final drive and still couldn't stop us because we wore them down over 4 quarters. We would've easily scored another TD on that final drive had we not taken a knee. It was like night and day compared to earlier in the game.
