After hearing his contract details, my god, no one in their right mind would turn that down. Just own it. Using his girls as an excuse is as soft as charmin.

Well….it’d be mean to tell the truth.

“Guys, we are about to be stump broke every weekend in the SEC. I’m getting out while I can and you should do the same.”

Lubbock…. Norman…. OKC….?? Shitwholes compared to the luxury bubble of LA. This dude is getting paid more than double, they’ll likely also pay the difference he loses in taxes and real estate values to buy there, and they are going to live the luxury southern Cali life. Absolutely no brainer. And that is not even considering avoiding dealing with the SEC grind. He just upgraded his family SOOOO much. OK sucks y’all. I mean it’s just the truth. He may could have handled it a bit better but this is an opportunity he’s worked hard for and he’s getting it done. Lucky man.

Let's just be real. Most of these coaches are douchebags. They have no problem looking players in the eye and straight up lying to them. Unfortunate, but true.

A big fu to a billionaire donor not nearly as trashy as stiffing a recruit with the dinner check.

You don’t need private schools in Norman. It’s actually a great town to raise a family in.

It’s obviously a BS line because “they’re paying me close to $100M to move to LA” doesn’t feel right to say to the team’s faces…

Tubberville leaving in the middle of dinner with a recruit is the trashiest way someone has left for a job IMO

Why not? At least it's honest. Most people will understand that you're taking another job because they're offering to pay you double what you currently make. Using your kids as an excuse is pathetic.

Only feel sorry for OU because I know the pain of a coach screwing your team over by unexpectedly leaving. But still

A strong choice. May I present to you a coach that may have wrecked a motorcycle - or may have just had his arse kicked by a pissed off fiance - either way involving him dicking down a chic on his payroll ?

Allow me to present ... Bobby Petrino.

After intially being shocked, dismayed and a bit angry, I now don't really mind him leaving per se. If he feels it's best for him and his family, OK...he's a GREAT offensive minded coach. But the WAY he did it...all last second without giving the school, even the athletic director any advance notice, particularly this time of year when coaches are out recruiting....They already have the top QB for 2023 in the nation de-committ. And if they do go into the SEC next year, that is lousy timing to have uncertainty at the head coach position.

Bless Bob Stoops for instantly stepping up when asked to coach them thru the bowl and also he's literally heading out tonight to meet with recruits after meeting with the players and coaches.

There is no guarantee Riley wins at usc I would at he’s got a good start with all OUs 2023 class decommittting . He didn’t handle it well a s left the players high and dry . It will all be good by the end of the week when we hire Venables
