I've never been a fan. He's immature, flaky, and takes entirely way to many risks on offense.

I think Lane may be an Idiot Savant. Very gifted play caller but at some point, points on the board mean more than analytics on a sheet of paper. Like all SEC coaches, I see an upside with him until his time is worn out and recruiting begins to suffer.

Injuries? LSU says hold my beer. Our starting QB couldn’t even go fishing without breaking his arm. Last count 24 players on the injury list.

And a bunch of Bowl Merch will sell. I suspect donations will go up and a bowl game allows more practice than staying home and waiting until next year. College football is a business just as much as it is a sport.

Yeah Kiffin doesn’t play by the coaching rules and goes for it on 4th and WTF but that’s just his aggressive style. Any other coach would have 2 more losses with this team easily.

You could tell Kiffin's Analytics Whisperer wasn't down with some of those 4th down calls. You are exactly correct, though... all of those reasons the original OP mentioned should have made them take field goals through the night. Who knows, they may have won.
I was laughing my head off when he blew that last 4th, not taking the field goal, not giving his team momentum, not leaving any time on the clock and not stopping AU. Hell, lets just let the last minute be a gimme and concede the game... but mhe Analytics.
