but right now unvaccinated people in Ireland are 4 times more likely to test positive with Covid and 18 times more likely to be hospitalized.
That’s their problem, not yours
No, but it could be my problem for me, when I go to Ireland next year after putting it off twice in 2020.

You do realize that even though a fully vaccinated person can pass Covid to someone else...basic understanding of viral transmission means they are far less likely to do so. 1) They are less likely to contract Covid. Can't pass what you don't have. 2) They are less likely to develop severe Covid which means they won't have the viral loads necessary for transmission. As you mentioned a vaccinated person can catch COVID and pass COVID but it is considerably less likely.
You do realize that we know that you don't keep up with the latest science studies...Oh by the way This Study proves that you are incorrect on #1. #2 is still out there waiting for proof as what little there is more cases of fully vaxed people are ending up in the hospital...
THis is why it's futile and really not worth a damn to get on here and profess our opinion with so called 'correct information'.
For every comment one of us makes, the other finds an article counteracting one's comments or beliefs.
We all are running around in circles here trying to prove our point...including me.
But some of us are going to 'die on that hill'...

74%
Read the link you suggested and saw the difference...90% eligible adults but 74% overall.

Agreed. But it is a message board.
The two counter points aren't using the data correctly.
I don't have time today to investigate the claim of 90% but google Ireland vaccination rate and you can find multiple places that all list them at 74% as of yesterday.
I did read the study on viral transmission and it also says in the study vaccinated people clear the virus more quickly...common since would tell anyone that reduces transmission. It is a single study and there are others to refute the info. The New Hampshire study where we first began to realize vaccinated people could get the virus and transmit it does a good job showing the difference between a vaccinated person without waning immunity vs those with waning immunity. I understand the concern abut the vaccine not preventing fully infection or transmission but its silly to believe based on info available that it doesn't reduce infections and transmission. Perhaps most importantly it significantly reduces hospitalizations. Israel is an example though of once you do reach high rates of vaccination the virus will continue to effect most adversely immune compromised people and elderly with waning immunity.

Did you miss my edit that I added at the end of my post, or did you purposely ignore it?
almost 92% adults 18+ fully vaccinated and jumps to 93% when you add the one dose.
Now this will be my last post in this thread.

I don't think there's much left to debate. The vaccines pretty clearly do little to prevent the spread of the disease though they do seem to be effective at reducing severity of symptoms.
Most reasonable people can acknowledge those two things. Give the former, there is zero reason for vaccine mandates and given the latter zero reason for anyone to be critical of people who do choose to get the vaccine if they see COVID as a threat to themselves.
The problem is vaccine mandates and passports which have no scientific basis and further prove the narrative the government is corrupt as shite and are not following the "science" they hold so dear. For further proof see the fact that they won't acknowledge natural immunity or the fact we are basically at their stated threshold for herd immunity in most areas.

quote:Gold star as you are correct sir. I don't care if you get the vax or not...just don't mandate it and don't censor the data so it looks one sided. I.e. only testing people who choose not to share their status or those who choose not to get the shot for whatever reason. We know that people who have the shots can and do get it. Also, Natural immunity is a thing but isn't being recognized. And if you have the shot but are worried only about the unvaxed person then you have bought into their narrative.

Just an FYI, the deadline for Federal contractor COVID-19 vaccine compliance date changed to Jan. 18
The Biden Administration announced on Nov. 10 that covered federal contractors now have until Jan. 18, 2022,to certify that their employees are fully vaccinated. We are good through the bowl game.

Harsin keeping his options open by not getting the jab? Doesn't sound like a bad strategy honestly.

So if Harsin doesn’t want the vaccine he will be fired like Rolovich?
Harsin, that had Covid in August, keeping his options open ...while the courts decide how badly SCOTUS will eventually rule over Biden, telling him to shove it by a score of 9-0
Remember, Obama lost several decisions by SCOTUS by a score of 9-0

Biden will lose the OSHA mandate for folks with 100 employees. Already a temporary stay. For contractors (Auburn, Alabama) that count on research and grants that is a very risky and potentially expensive proposition. I know of no pending cases. Having said that the definition for religious exception can be liberally interpreted.

Someone will say it so I'll go ahead and be civil about it. Yes, they aren't actually free because we're paying for them through our taxes.
Also before someone asks, no the Supreme Court delay doesn't affect Harsin. Different issue (one is OSHA, one is federal contracting arrangements).
