Well, like it or not, he does have a Head coaching national title. He might sit for a year, but he can be a HC for somebody again. He coached at LSU, Ole Miss, and USC

That is my take on this.
No school will want a coach that is still dressing LSU and appearing for LSU. If he wanted to coach he would likely have to quit making these appearance thus giving LSU an out for paying any of the remainder owed to him. It also allows LSU to avoid an ugly public break up with a coach.
