I disagree. I think everyone knows Mullen is pretty much the SEC's version of Bob Stoops.

Are you seriously a fan of a team that has 18 wins in the past 10 years?

I am a true fan unlike you

Edit. Misunderstood.

Alabama will roll.

That over-rated coach did pretty good against 1980

Except Stoops at least won a conference championship. What has Mullen won? One SEC-East title. Has yet to make the playoffs.

Any coach that has the ability to take State to the heights and breadth that D.M. did has earned his place in the top 10-15 of active D1 football head coaches.

Now, he has to take fla to the promised land. All while winning a high percentage of fla's fb games. Being consistent on a yrs by yrs basis.

If CDM does that, then put him in the HOF. Until then, he's a very good coach.

31-0. Does anyone think the divisions are equal?

If Alabama were to swap divisions we would be saying the same thing.

The big difference in the divisions is Alabama. Don't misunderstand....I do believe top to bottom the west is better. But the biggest difference is Alabama winning the SEC most years and the National Championships. It's a lot of perception due to the dominance of Alabama.

That's not a stat you would ever see if a team operated in a "guantlet" environment, because of the level of difficulty of the aforementioned "guantlet". Winning 31 in a row against an entire division (half) of your conference, suggests there is no "guantlet". Get it now?

I think you miss the point. This is probably the most dominating stretch any team has ever had...period.
They dominate the entire country, but make no mistake about it....the SEC won 7 straight National Championships and 4 of those was won by different teams. That is a gauntlet. Alabama dominates, but that doesn't mean the other teams are not very, very good. You should check Oklahoma's record against SEC teams not named Alabama for examples.

Doesn't exactly scream "guantlet".

Anyone screaming "guantlet" would likely get a lot of English teachers angry.

That said... do you honestly believe Alabama wouldn't do the same to nearly every other division in FBS?

The remedy is simple. The Cocks need to recruit a talented Spicoli-type at QB without a shred of self-discipline and this streak is over.

Two NC’s as OC at Fl and what he did with Miss St. He’s not overrated. Can’t recruit but he can coach better than Kirby.

Trying to make the divisions equal during Saban's current ridiculous run would only lead to further inequities when he is gone. You would have to think that Bama will come back to earth and Tennessee will eventually hire someone who isn't an idiot to run that program. I am talking about the Prez, AD, and head coach. If you straighten out the 3rd Saturday in October, you straighten out everything.

Although I would be for moving Bama and Auburn over to the East and Mizzou, OU and TX to the West when they get here. I think that would make the East more difficult than the West, but I don't care about that. I like playing a better schedule.
An excellent post!
