Wife texted me this morning on
My way back to Georgia. Her hospital has 100 Covid patients right now. 47 in ICU on vents. Of those, the majority of them are in their 50’s like me. Most will die. Yesterday, a healthy 36 year old died and today a 35 year old is on his death bed.

Everyone can keep pushing the political agenda if they want but is is as bad right now as it has been since it started. Be careful and just stay the hell away from direct contact with people right now if you can.

Decipher that anyway you want but it is what it is.

I’ll decipher it like this:

It is a respiratory virus that is spread via aerosols and has an animal reservoir. Any delusions that we will ever get rid of it or vaccinate it out of existence is absurdity of the highest order.

Acting like it is something we can eventually eliminate has been one of the worst responses to this we could have had.

I couldn’t have said that any better, Lanier. We have to be able to respect the virus while getting our lives and our nation back moving again. We don’t need any more stimulus.

It was so sad reading an article about so many pregnant women on ventilators at UAB Hospital. All of them not vaccinated. So many will die bc they are at high risk being pregnant.

If they would have only read the reports for pregnant women.

I just don't want to see so many die on that hill.

p.s. I just read that an assistant coach, 38, who is at Western Carolina died from Covid.

I generally try to stay out of these conversations for a myriad of reasons. I run the recruiting thread and I don’t want people to associate me with political shite - my priority here is to inform the board on recruits and get them excited about guys coming in & also serve as a peace counselor when shite hits the fan. But most here know by now my wife is a doctor and I’m left of most here. I’m not a dick and I get along most with the righty tighties here (Corch, Lanier, Rocky, Chex, Aub Spr, and so on). I grew up in Georgia and we have invested our future there. Those are my dogs. We’ve been through a shite-ton throughout the decades.

I’m vaccinated and so is my wife. I was vaccinated early because she was and she has to rotate through the emergency department because she has a board certification that qualifies her to flex into those roles and the contract that she works on (as well as most young physicians) means the hospital owns her time. No big deal. She signed up for it and she’s the last one to complain.

She’s seeing mostly the same. A small percentage of what she mostly saw last summer but mostly 30-60 year olds that are vaccine eligible. They’ve vaccinated a ton of family members and friends because of it — seeing their dad/mom/brother/etc on a machine changes things.

I know a little about most of you. Most of you are reasonable people perfectly capable of making your own choices without pressure or judgement. I’m not interested in trying to change that. I just hope that folks here argue with compassion and empathy. We’re all flawed and we’re all trying to figure out what’s best for us.

Pretty pleased with how this has been discussed here. I’m excited to know there’s so many people here that give a frick. Be kind to eachother and hopefully when this next phase passes we’re ready to kick arse and roll into conference play Y’all baws be good and take care of those damn good families of yours.
