I was in a rivalry game in 1965, not so much since Alabama’s rise with Bear. The combination of Bear and desegregation broke Ole Miss. They started to recover under Tuberville, until he left in his pine box for Auburn. Cut did a wonderful job, but OM didn’t have the patience to let him sort things out post Eli. Frankly , I think they would have made it to the SECCG if they kept Cut. All he needed was a little help recruiting wise. Once Bear rose and OM fell, Alabama displaced them as LSU’s rival. I attended LSU from the late 80s through early 90s. Ole Miss was the party game and Alabama was THE game. (Auburn too, but we really didn’t play them much prior to 87).

It was more of the GOB network than desegregation. But the issues with desegregation was part of that same GOB network so I'm not saying it WASN'T a factor.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL no. Cut was fired for several reasons. One of which, was a complete failure at recruiting a program that had legitimate excitement and national exposure. We were fricking awful after Eli left.
