My post is based entirely on what Mal Moore has openly said, what do you think Mal Moore is lying about?

There is often things said publicly and things said private. I'm sure you can understand that. Honestly though, as much of a wet dream LSU fans have that BAMA somehow screwed up the coaching search, we hired Saban and won 6 NCs and counting.

Which part do you disagree with?

I'm not sure what you're getting so defensive about, coaching searches are a crapshoot and require a certain amount of luck to get right.
Every hire is a gamble.

Mal never wanted Rich Rod. Mal made sure Rich Rod was lowballed because, like I said, Saban was always the candidate Mal wanted. Spurrier was never really the option for UA that some think he was.
The Shula firing talk rwally heated up after the State loss in 2006. Back in those days prior to Saban, solid info was much more easily obtained within the Alabama program. About the three hours after the loss to Tennessee, which was two games prior to the State game, I received a text message from someone that I knew would know and trusted that always had info. The text simply read, "Saban is our next coach."
I continued to be reassured throughout the process that it was Saban and only Saban, no matter what the media was saying or being told. Well, sometime later, everything worked out exactly the way I was told it would the week of the Tennessee game. After Saban took over, my source dried up, and the rest is history.

What does everyone gain by lying about both of those guys being options then?

Well damn, isn't that handy

I'm telling you the truth, and there are many other people with similar knowledge and experience. I know you can't stand to be wrong, but you are. Saban was the target, even before talks of Shula being fired and before the media had a clue who the "targets" were or would be.
There had to be smokescreens for UA because Saban was the target and head coach of the Dolphins. Saban didn't want any possibility of leaks because of his relationship with Wayne Huizenga. Saban wanted out of the NFL, and talks with Mal we're happening with Saban's agent, but not directly with Saban, but Mal knew Saban was heavily interested the entire time.
Mal was pressured by PTB to offer Rich Rod, but it was against Mal's will, and Mal did everything he could to stop that deal from happening without outright sabotaging the thing, because he knew Saban was very interested but had to wait patiently for Saban because his team had a small chance at the playoffs and Saban didn't want it to get out at all that he wanted the job. In the end, the thing that almost stopped Saban from following his heart and leaving the NFL for Alabama was his relationship with Huizenga, but in the end Saban and Huizenga parted ways.

Meh, I think I'll believe Moore and the numerous others involved instead of a random Alabama poster whose source is, "Trust me bro."

Makes sense for the time, doesn't explain why everyone is still lying over a decade later.

Whatever. I wouldn't expect you to ever admit anything is right or true other than what it is you believe. You've proven this to be true repeatedly. I bet you're the guy that watches mainstream media and believes them too.

Mal Moore was in charge of the process, I believe what he said, he has no reason to lie.
If anything, it would've made him look better to tell your version but he didn't.

The whole story rats on him, Saban, and Sexton for working behind the scenes while Saban was coaching Miami. It also reveals him working against the PTB that wanted Rich Rod. None of these things would any AD ever say to the public or media.
So you honestly think ADs, coaches, politicians or whomever, tell the whole story to the media and general public? So I guess you think the whole story and truth is out in the public about the recent allegations against LSU, huh? Because they always tell the whole story! Haha. No.

I'm not sure why it bothers you so bad that I believe Mal Moore's version of the events as opposed to yours

Because there's still no reason for anyone involved to lie about it, everyone has moved on and the Saban hire was obviously the right move.

This is the way it was. Believe it or not but this is what happened.

That’s why he will take the job if offered - when the GOAT leaves.

No. I know of Walls98 though. He had good info back in the day during the Shula era. When Saban took over his sources seemed to dry up as well. Saban had things on lockdown for a while. It's still not easy to get info like it used to be, but it's not quite as tight as things were for Saban's first few years.
