He got really, really out of shape in JuCo.

Anyone else go to Bama in the Shula years?
It was pretty common to hang out at the houndstooth, players would be there basically laughing at Mike.
I mean they were saying "I'm here for my stock and we don't take it serious when he tells is to do anything'
Certain players were just taking their time (after the liberty bowl) to get to an NFL that may/not been realistic

Carlton Person back in the day looked to be the next great LB. I think he beat his girlfriend his freshman season. What a waste.

Who was that Mississippi player of the year that was so highly recruited?
I think he came along during the Shula years, but Saban may have coached him during his first year.
I remember that he was an offensive player that I think was converted to defense.
I also remember that he had a drug problem and was arrested for it.

I remember watching Kerry Murphy's highlights thinking he was going to be a beast. Dont think he ever got his academics straightened out though
