Guys who don't win anything AND destroy programs deserve this list

- Curly Hallman
- Derek Dooley
- Joker Phillips
- Ears Whitworth
- Coach O (Ole Miss)

Did O really destroy Ole Miss?

Nutt came in and won with O's guys before they filtered out.

I don't think Ole Miss gave O long enough.

Yes - he was an abysmal head football coach at Ole Miss. There was never a single on the field moment in 3 years that pointed to things getting better.

He left some talented players for Nutt, but he also had dudes like Mike Wallace, Green Ellis, Patrick Willis, Oher, P. Jerry, etc and went 3-21 in the SEC.

He clearly changed and worked at it between Ole Miss and LSU, and I respect the hell out of that. He totally changed the way he operated.

Obviously issues are popping up now, but that doesn't overshadow that he absolutely did critique himself and change.

An ideal situation is for O to be an associate head coach/recruiting coordinator to someone like Kiffin.

John L Smith has a record as the head coach at the University of Arkansas and he took a very talented team and sucked eggs. He makes the list.

I figured the way he left would have pushed him right to the top of the list for you guys.

He failed at TAMU because he fell in love with the option.

I mean I hate him for how he left but his 2001 and 2002 seasons (pre-quitting) were very solid coaching jobs.

The hate also subsided a bit when the full story of how the athletic department really did blindsided him with the probation stuff came out. He didn't handle it well, but I do think he was lied to (or at least not told the whole story).

Its sad that it is barely debatable that Arkansas has two on the list (Chadwick and John L.). What other school can boast Hall of Fame coaches (Broyles and Holtz) along with decent coaches (Hatfield, Nutt, Petrino)....and then shite the bed with anyone like Chadwick and John L.

John L. kinda sorta doesn't count as he was really a fancy interim....but we straight up hired Chadwick P. Morris and the Club Dub party.

I feel like any list leaving off Watson Brown is automatically invalidated. No coach has lost more games than he has and he coached at Vanderbilt in the late-80s and early-90s.

Or Rod Dowhower, who was forced out after just two seasons at Vandy...

Obviously, I have some recency bias but Pruitt owns 2 of our worst seasons in over 120 years of football. One was a year he mostly inherited and the other a pandemic year but it's still hard to ignore how bad he is, especially when you consider all the blowout losses.

I would take Dooley over Pruitt any day of the week.
