It wouldn’t surprise me if some in the administration are happy to see football fail because it’s nothing but a bunch of “jocks” who probably have them swirleys in middle school

Now there's a hot take. You just described the relationship between Vandy football and the school administration during my lifetime...

Not the same in the sense that their scheme is similar. The same in the sense that their offensive scheme is the primary reason for success. Once defenses figure it out, which big bit defenses will, those types of coaches tend to hold on to it rather than adapting.

Do the admins not understand a competitive (6-6, 7-5) Vandy football team would attract so many students to the school? I get the admission standards make it hard to compete but if they ever went all in on football it would be easy to sell smart kids on football in the sec and in turn normal student recruitment would skyrocket and everyone would want to go to Vandy to get a good education but still be an SEC school.

I seriously doubt that there are a lot of hs students who do/could get into Vandy who aren't choosing to attend, but would attend if Vandy had regularly a 6-7 win football program.

They are turning kids away now. My daughter toured Vandy and had the numbers that would put her in the pool of potential students. But Vandy basically told you up front that if you didn't do Early Decision with them, you might as well forget it because getting in regular decision is like buying a lottery ticket. I wasn't going to commit to a $70k a year education without seeing the financial aid package first and that's not the way ED works. It's binding. So Vandy doesn't care about attracting more kids.

The value of a Vandy degree attracts students, they don't need football for that

Dirty Myrtle sounds like a character from the Andy Griffith shows that was one of the wild women from Mount Pilot. She would have a scratchy voice and say “How ya doin, Doll?”

We, myself included, all used that justification for Barry Odom as well.

Odom was way more dedicated to Mizzou than Drink will ever be, but who cares. If Drink takes a bigger job that will mean he’s won a bunch of games here

Some HCs might stay if he is doing very well. Earlier this week there was talked about getting a new facility for football. He said it will help attract top recruits to go to Missouri. That is good to hear. Boosters and State of Missouri got to listen or else he will leave in a few years. He wants a winning culture and program but, to make that happened long term you got to get the facilities to compete with the rest of the top football programs. I did remember some boosters backed out when Missouri got into trouble and Odom was the HC and that was for football facility. This time Drinkwitz mentioned he was glad Missouri and boosters were interesting with the idea of having a new football facility. He said will help with attracting top recruits to Missouri. If that happens get done he probably will not leave. As long Missouri listen to him and give what is best to give him a chance to compete in the SEC. That is one way to keep the HC. Paying him what others willing to pay to get him may not work because of facilities are not up to standard to compete for top recruits. That is why Missouri sucks in recruiting classes all those years!

Chadwell was the hot name early in the week. Even as far as someone saying an offer was verbally accepted.

2 days later, not so much. Probably realizing how bad of a job it is.

Chadwell will be coaching vols after Pruitt is fired. He's holding out for a bigger job, makes sense

Hopefully Vandy can hire Lea and call it a day
