So it doesn't take significant training and athletic ability to run long distance?
This is also correct. It's much like Daytona having a 1000-mile race, low-gear only, and whomever is the last one to run out of gas wins.

I think it’s more of a sport than Neck-car, golf, and bowling.

Arkansas, you better get ready for a challenge from LSU in those running sports. Tigas getting good at running.

The meth heads in Alabama are super quick. Though they do lack stamina. 50-100 yards they fast but anything longer than a quick jaunt through the woods and they done.

So much truth here. Ran in a snow storm during the state championship my senior year. That was a fun time.

Dude. It’s exercising but with medals or ice cream at the end or something.

I kind of agree with this.

I was impressed with the running culture in and around Fayetteville. The Greenway going through the middle of town was great and I ran it every day I was there.
I did not realize how much I missed that aspect of Fayetteville until I moved away. I know it sounds odd to say "man, I miss the nature trails" but... well... man, I miss the nature trails.

In high school we ran a race at Forrest High in Jacksonville. The entire course was on loose beach sand in high humidity heat amid swarms of sweat bees... would much rather have had snow.

Try doing 5 x 1 mile at 4:45 per mile with one minute rest between each then do 16 miles the next day at 6:00 per mile and we can talk.

It’s literally the oldest sport in the history of the world.

Slowly, lol. When’s the last time you ran around a golf course for 6.2 miles at 4:50 per mile? I’m guessing you can’t run a lap (1/4 of a mile for you idiots) at your local track at that pace.

Cross country is a sport IMHO. Different than running on a track. Plus T&F includes sprints, medium distance, long distance and then that field part of discus, long jump, triple jump shot put, javelin, high jump. pole vault. Two different sports. It's like saying because soccer and rugby are played on fields and involve kicking a ball they are the same sport.
