Most football players - even the fittest and fastest - wouldn’t make it through 15 minutes of a typical cross country workout.

I've had sprinters mouth off to my distance runners about how easy their workouts their workouts were. After I pulled them and they ran a few 1000s or 1200s or whatever we were doing they shut up pretty quickly.

Roomed with two cross country athletes at Auburn. Got up at 10am one Saturday and one was sitting on the couch sweaty. I asked him how far he ran that morning and he said 20 miles. If you run 20 miles before I wake up, you’re an athlete.

I remember when I was a kid and Michael Johnson took off, 400m looked like such a short distance. Nope

The International Olympic Committee now
recognizes the card game Bridge as a sport,
with poker and pole dancing under consideration.
No reason to even question why running through
the woods, hopping over mud holes and outlasting
others in breathing, shouldn't be also.

Your wish has been granted. Not XC like I'm used to but I'm still excited!

This is also correct. It's much like Daytona having a 1000-mile race, low-gear only, and whomever is the last one to run out of gas wins.

So....Le Mans? Shitty troll.

Yet, somehow, the entire world disagrees with this statement.

A Cross Country title just proves your school was willing to allow their scout to spend more time in Kenya.

Are we listing sports where Arkansas beat Florida the last time they played?

Off the top of my head, that would include soccer, baseball and football. What else am I missing?

It’s arguably the most important physical trait humans have. Our ability to run long distances is exceptional in the animal kindgdom. That and being able to throw a frickin spear
