When Munson was broadcasting?
Yep. Was pretty common by 1999 with Tivo. Munson still announcing until 2008?

I'm partial to Jack Cristil just as any Mississippi State fan would be. I think if he had called the games for the likes of Bama or LSU or Florida instead of Mississippi State, he would have been much more appreciated around the college football world.
I still remember listening live to one of his now-famous lines after yet another inept offensive performance from Croom's team. He usually did a 'Sonic Drive of the game' segment at the end of every game. He said: "The Drive the Game may be my drive home from Starkville to Tupelo. Hopefully, it'll be an uneventful drive." I literally spit my drink when I heard it.
The man just had a great, great sense of humor and painted a picture of what went on in the game. He needed every ounce of that humor to call games for us from 1953 to 2011. He was as much as a treasure to the SEC just as Munson and Ward were.
A few other Jack Cristil quotes that I found online:
"It's third down and so long, you will need surveying equipment to see how much is needed for a first down."
"There are only 45 seconds left. Maybe Ole Miss wont score another td. In the 1st quarter that is."
"The QB and the receiver weren't on the same page there, but hey its only week eleven."
"Well, the Bulldogs take a delay of game. That backs them up to their 4 where it will be fourth and 31. We just wanted to McAdams plenty of room to kick the ball because he has such a powerful leg."
-"Well, that's only a loss of 9 there. So, it's only third and 19."
"Chris Relf can throw it long. He cannot throw it accurately, but he can throw it long."
"At the end of the third quarter, Ole Miss barely out in front, 38-0."
"Handoff to Dixon. And Dixon is murdered on the play."
"They are going to have to send in their second kickoff coverage unit because the first unit is going to tire out with all these kickoffs."

Everybody knows John Ward is the best. Munson is a moron.

What was Ward's call on the hobnail boot play?

John Ferguson-LSU....and it's not close.

The greatest radio men in SEC history are either Kentucky's Cawood Ledford, Georgia's Larry Munson or Tennessee's John Ward. Id put State's Jack Cristil up in the mix as well. We can debate until the cows come home but these are the GOATs in this conference

Football, Munson was the best.
Basketball, it’s Cawood Ledford.
Cawood was amazing on football broadcasts just as basketball, and when he called the Kentucky Derby too!
We hate Tennessee but John Ward absolutely deserves his kudos. Absolute legend.

I'm no Kentucky fan but IMO Cawood was the gold standard in college basketball.
He was.... The Chicago Bulls during the Jordan years did everything they could to draw the Harlan, Ky. native away from his beloved cats. They failed... Not only college ball but Basketball announcer, period. He was also the NCAA finals announcer during those years plus the KY. Derby. He was a dynamite football announcer also, but basketball was his first love..
Someone here mentioned John Ferguson. I forgot about him. Really, really good.

He was! I remember his call of the 2006 Georgia-Georgia Tech game was all over rivals.com at the time.

Also, Munson started broadcasting UGA in 1966.
