Three guys likely to sign with UGA later in cycle are all Top 30 players - like the Jefferson’s theme song -

I mean, he has always recruited pretty well. The problem is that 4 teams he plays every year recruit as well or better every year.

He is likely to have a talent deficit in 3-5 games each season.

Kickers are less important now than they have ever been. Teams are more likely to go for it on fourth down these days than at any time in the past, and as the average points total of games climbs higher and higher, the impact of an individual field goal on the outcome grows less and less. I mean, shite, look at my team as a good example. The most dominant dynasty in recent history has also had probably the worst run of field goal kickers of any team in the country over the past ten years, and it really hasn’t mattered at all.

Tell that to Clemson when they sign 18, finish in a marginal final position but have the highest average rating per recruit...then whip everyone's arse with that low rated class.

You're right. Zero significance.

when your class is ranked 7th out of the 14 teams in the SEC, that's the very definition of mediocre, dumbass.

Also, sooner or later recruiting services are going to have to figure out a way to rate kickers. Kickers have become as much a part of the game .... offense, defense, special teams. It's past time to start rating kickers appropriately.

You can sign the #1 punter and #1 kicker in the nation and be penalized on your ratings.

This is an excellent point. Position weight (in terms of a coefficient) in recruiting services should match position weight on a team through the season. Good or bad kickers impact the game and season bigly.

I mean LSU signs long snappers every 3 to 4 years. It's a very important role. We never have trouble with the long snapper because the coaches put a focus on the position. But recruiting services seem to always give long snappers 2 stars.

Florida did really well on the lines of scrimmage and at DB. However, the staff gets a big fat F for the skill positions. Zero RBs and one of our only WR commits didn't sign today and everyone knows will fail to qualify.

We tried so hard to tell y'all man. Gonzales cannot recruit, Hevesy will not recruit and Mullen hates recruiting too. There is a reason all your good recruits are on the defensive side of the ball.

Agree wholeheartedly with this. It drives me crazy when I see other auburn fans spouting off about top 10 classes year after year and we consistently finish behind 4-5 other teams in the SEC. if you want to correlate recruit rankings directly to wins, it’s no wonder we finish 8-4 every year.

IMO finishing 4th or 5th isn't the end of the world if you stars pan out. Think about Bryant or Ashley. One a DE the other a OT...you have to maximize their contributions. IMO a 5 star DE, OT, CB or QB is way more important than a 5 star at any other position. Auburn has had to serious bust in the last few years and they are at critical success positions.

you know whats funny, It 100% mattered this year. It was the difference between a playoff and no playoff for Bama this year.

Absolutely. No way we can learn anything by looking at the quality of the players signed. 30 two stars always beats 14 four stars and 1 three star.
