How could you expect a fan base who is a custom to winning championships to enjoy a season where their 50 million dollar head coach is running the program in the ground.
I hear what you’re saying but historically, we shouldn’t be a fan base that’s accustomed to winning championships.. because the reality is that we don’t more often than not

To play devil’s advocate here.

How much of that is due to a fan base and program that has largely been okay with being above average? I see so many arguments from Auburn fans that This is as good as our program realistically will be, because history and what not. I mean, if 8-5 becomes the acceptable standard, that will be what you achieve.

In modern day football, Auburn can be a much more dominant program than what they have achieved historically, especially with how much more open recruiting is now. There is a large portion of our fan base that seems perfectly fine with a program that is mediocre for 3-4 years with one season of threatening for the SEC and maybe more. If that is the standard you set, that’s what you will get, even if you are capable of more.
