He looked vastly improved int he spring game (i know it's just a spring game) than he did in high school. If he keeps that improvement going, I think his passing will be fine.
Like with Cam, it is a two edged sword. If early on, his running can be effective enough it gets people to bite, the passing will be much easier as there will be some pretty open WR's. That will in turn open the running back up when teams adjust. One or the other needs to be strong early in the season. He doesn't have to be great at both at the start.

NM was a tentative passer at best early on, but he was just competent enough that defenses risked getting burned when they stacked the box against us (MSU, I'm looking in your direction). And once he got comfortable with the read option the offense really took off, as teams had to respect his running ability as well as defend against him pulling up at the last second and flicking it to a wide-open target downfield.
Of course our '13 OL was an outstanding unit. Jury's still way out on our current bunch.
