I've seen folks throwing out a multitude of different numbers regarding Johnson's buyout and the timelines of the said buyout. See below for what I believe to be the accurate information.

quote:

Should Alabama terminate Johnson without cause before April 15, 2018, it owes him $9 million. That decreases to $8 million if he’s released between April 16, 2018 and April 15, 2019 and $6 million between April 16, 2019 and April 15, 2020.

If Johnson were to take another job — college or professional — before April 15, 2018, he owes the university $3 million. If he does so between April 16, 2018 and April 15, 2019, it’s $2.5 million.

Those figures are why I'm afraid unless some huge money boosters actually care, Johnson is here another couple years unless he leaves on his own accord.

Why again did we give an unproven coach a buyout?

My only thought is...

I hope Bill Battle hangs his dusty old scrotum on a rusted nail.

I sure wish I could have negotiated my tuition at UA like this. If I had known what morons were running the show I might have tried!

It’s hard to imagine anyone doing any job as poorly as Bill Battle.

I'm failing to see the issue. $6mil is a drop in the bucket for our athletic department. Ours actually turns a profit.
