I’m not sure that being “born” someplace is the same as being “from” someplace.
I was born in a city, then moved to Houston when I was three months old.
I’ve lived here for 46 years.
No way am I from the city where I happened to live for 12 weeks.
Someone above mentioned that Clyde Drexler isn’t “from” Texas, yet he’s lived in Houston since he was a kid.
Sports Illustrated says he’s a Texan (THE 50 GREATEST SPORTS FIGURES FROM TEXAS).
So I guess it depends on how you operationally define what “being from a state” means.

He was born in N.O., but he grew up in Hst , I also had doubts about Hornsby and Mean Joe but they were legit Texans.

I wasn’t trying to make shite up, but it’s hard to remember who grew up here vs born here.

I guess interpretation is subjective to each individual, no worries.

Mia Hamm that’s a good call. Did not realize she was from Alabama. Good call

I completely agree.
I was just pointing out that the list could be compiled differently, depending on how it’s defined.

I hear you.
I was born in another state because my dad was in the Army at the time. He extended his duty a little longer so Uncle Sam would pay for my birth. A month after I was born, we moved to Baton Rouge where I spent the vast majority of the next 27 years. So I'm not a native, but I certainly have very little connection to the place where I was born. I haven't set foot within 100 miles of my birthplace since I was a baby.
