Anyone live or ever lived in or within 20-25 minutes of Jasper, AL?

Is there anywhere around there that would be considered a good place to live?
Any decent schools?

Agreed. Walker County is awful unless it’s Smith Lake.

You better live in Gardendale and commute to Jasper. Walker County is a shite-hole. Trump country at its finest.

I grew up in Parrish (crap-hole) south of Jasper. I do agree that Walker County is not that prosperous. Jasper, however, is growing and a nice place to live but that's about it.

Are you a redneck, or tolerant of that lifestyle?

Walker county is a great place to raise a family. My sister wife and kids love it.

Grew up in Dora...moved away for college and never moved back.

Try and live closer to Birmingham, at least then the family will have something to do, places to go. Any further north or west of Jasper and you lose touch with civilization.

Gardendale is growing. In reality Jasper is not that far from Birmingham thanks to the new 78 corridor.

If it’s worth commuting for your dream job then I’d maybe consider it

2 - 3 years ago Walker Co built(at the time) the largest school in the state. I'm not sure if the teachers are worth a dang but they do have a massive new school.

Like others have stated, Gardendale isn't a bad commute. I suppose it really depends on what you and your families cup of tea is.
