Neither one has been given a chance to return home to coach. Why ?

Freddie was mentioned for a couple of the OC positions the last decade but the reports were he loved the NFL.

How many former Bama players have been Saban's staffs over his tenure there ? It probably is due to how he feels about old guard loyalty.

Not many if any from before his tenure.
There are quite a few scattered around at other places that started as GAs or are current Alabama GAs.

I can only think of Pruitt. I know he wanted to hire Dabo, but other than that it has to be something to do with connections to some of the PTB for those who played for Dubose-Shula.
