Pretty sure this is the reason. While I know AU has a great engineering program, I don't know what all programs they focus on. Wasn't my major. I think I read that outside of the air force academy and places like MIT, they have the most astronauts or something. I'm sure it can be googled, but I'm not feeling energetic at the moment.

Engineering and Physics Schools, plus AU is one of only a few Universities that has Army, Air Force and Navy/Marines ROTC.
