ETA: Yell Leader is an elected position. Women are free to run for one of the five spots. But the tradition is rooted in history that goes back more than a century, which works against female candidates.

Translation:
A Homosexual male is the only person that can be elected to be head of the other homosexuals on campus. Women go to school here but are not hit on very often due to the overwhelming ratio of gay men in relation to heterosexual women. It is rooted deep in their "roots".
