Guess this can join the "heart condition"

Todd Gurley suspended 4-games at UGA for accepting more than $3,000 in cash for signing autographs...
Urban Meyer suspended 3-games at Ohio State for mishandling domestic assault accusations
Ehh. the dv accusations i think were actually handled fine in 2015. title ix officers told Smith and smith told Urban. i think people are still confused about that.
The text message thing is bad. however, i do think that that people in situations like that would absolutely say things like how can i protect myself in the future. i do forensic accounting and fraud investigations. Often when things start people always want to see how they can protect themselves in the future. Just human nature wanting to do better in the future.
The timing is damn bad, but that is when you think about protecting yourself in the future (and past acts).
Think the suspension was completely fair, and I wouldn't have been mad if he had been suspended half the year for all the facts being out

I thought that NOTHING would come of this and Urbs would not get any punishment. I was very wrong.
I know that the NCAA is allowed access to coach's phones, even personal cellphones (a Federal court ruled on this, see Butch Davis).
He asked about deleting texts older than a year, and then upon examination, his phone did in fact not have any messages older than a year, seems very shady.
It makes me wonder how long is a coach, especially a HC, required to keep messages for NCAA compliance?
I think that will be the story by the end of the day.

Well I guess it's just coincidence that they discussed getting rid of all texts messages over 1 year old and then:
quote:
The investigators go on to say that there were no texts on Meyer’s phone older than one year when Ohio State got ahold of it the following day.
What a surprising turn of events.
Maybe Urban forgot about not looking like a dirty cheating SOB, because, as we learned:
quote:
We also learned during the investigation that Coach Meyer has sometimes had significant memory issues in other situations where he had prior extensive knowledge of events. He has also periodically taken medicine that can negatively impair his memory, concentration, and focus. All of these factors also need to be considered and weighed in assessing Coach Meyer’s mindset on July 24th.

Significant memory loss, y’all. Ain’t no joke.

We've seen it before. Remember when he forgot that he quit his previous high profile coaching job because he wanted to spend more time with his family?

Oh yeah. He was starting to forget he had children. That’s when the memory loss first set in. Then a year later he forgot he quit coaching to be with his family and took the Ohio State job.
OSU report substantiated.

Wouldn't hold my breath.
The NCAA is the most corrupt organization in the NCAA.

You know who has to really be shaking his head?...the Vest. I mean getting inked up and selling gold britches by players gets you bounced. I mean come on. I guess a coach will need to be caught with a vessel full of blow and have direct contact with Pablo Escobar to get released from tOSU now.

Well I guess it's just coincidence that they discussed getting rid of all texts messages over 1 year old and then:
I mean going along your scenario, he would be worried about texts 3 years old, not 1. It's common in business to delete emails etc after a period of time. just normal course of business stuff. As i said, the timing is bad, but when something bad happens is always when you review the current system and tweak it.
When you issue a report like that, the totality always looks bad. Urban did some real dumb stuff, but the DV stuff seemed to not be the biggest issue here at all. the 2015 situation seems to have been handled at like a B level, where everyone who needed to know knew, but they didn't put the puzzle pieces together to can Smith til way too late.
Also, not a fan of the hiring process and Meyer not telling them/OSU not looking into it. You can say Meyer withheld it but OSU should damn sure have done more due diligence.

Something I don't understand is why these guys don't get their own cell phones. When you're a millionaire, $200 a month for a family plan, ain't no big deal. Then it is not university (ie public property).
I'm sure there are ways to get access to this info, but it makes it a lot more difficult.

As messed up as all this is, I can't wait for the stadium signs when this clown does return to the sidelines.
Actually, I doubt people will wait. The comedy should start right away.

Nope. He's a dead man walking. He deleted ALL texts older than one year. The cover-up is way worse than the crime. He gone. Just a matter of 'how long' till the axe!

Of course you think the suspension is fair.
