s amazing what behaviors a little athletic talent will allow fans to brush off.

Not too many fans are brushing it off. I know, a couple of posters here have tried to justify his actions on the basis of him defending his sister, but really what he did was reprehensible. I think about that video just about every time he makes a big play.

The question is what type of discipline he should face for those actions? I don't think he should have been denied a football career based on one violent act, particularly when he did not have a history of acting out like that.

If State had cut him loose, he would have played 1 year in JUCO and then every other SEC team would be falling all over themselves trying to sign him.

I thought his punishment seemed light, but like I said already he does seem to have put that incident behind him. If he was being a huge thug I could see people criticizing the light discipline, otherwise what's the point in even bringing it up 2 years later?

Thank you. I feel like your attitude towards it is the way most of the state fans I know feel about it. Think every fan’s team has had guys we don’t root for but they are on the team and good so you find it hard to not appreciate their value. I just have issue with a few of the posters trying to justify what he did and the one moron saying Simmons is such an upstanding student and human being. I’d imagine the rational fans appreciate what he’s helped accomplish at state but wouldn’t be upset if he never made a dime in the nfl
