Again, watch the games, Hurts had to run for his life with Bama's OL. His running allowed the team to cover up that weakness.

You've got it backwards. He made the OL look bad because if his first read was not open, he would not move up in the pocket, had great trouble making the 2nd read, he would not make a decision and throw the ball, he would then wander off to the right, sometimes all of the way out of bounds.

Tua did not have the same problems when he played. He was rarely sacked. The OL was not great at pass-pro but they were nothing like appearances. Again, Tua was almost never sacked. Jalen simply does not have the passing skills (pocket presence, ability to read quickly and make a decision, anticipate the receiver's path, etc.) to play in a pro-set offense. He does not make good decisions on RPOs, either for handing off or throwing being inclined to keep the ball most times. Bama's receivers and running backs became very frustrated last year. That's one reason the O began to lose hope the 2nd half of the season. When Tua came in the NC game, the entire team was infused with hope and energy. They have great respect for Jalen personally and as a leader, but knew he was not able to execute the passing game.

He may be coached to execute some type of option O. He is big and strong with good top end speed. He is a great leader and teammate. He has a strong arm with decent accuracy. There is something to work with.

He moved up to avoid the piss poor OL protections. He would then take off and run the ball for positive yardage. Most QBs would have been sacked 9 out of 10 times. Why do you think Saban stuck with him so long ? Loyality ?
