Like I said before, Dean and perhaps especially his mom seem very easily swayed. Every new school they visit seems to become the betting favorite. I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like we win battles for many kids like that. Hopefully once he sees enough schools and the shine wears off, he can make a wise decision for his future. With Bama’s track record of getting LBs to the NFL, favorable depth chart and a great major he wants to pursue, the logical choice is clear. And Alabama is close to home. But kids that are easily swayed by hype rarely sign with us which makes me think our chances with Dean are not great.

I agree with you tider04. We do best with kids who are level-headed and who can take the emotion out of an important decision. I've heard players say that their fun at Bama and at LSU under Saban took place on game day. Other than that it was business. But, this approach has helped them in a myriad of ways when it comes to dealing with life.

I agree with you and tider04. And it's by design that Coach Saban and his staff consistently deliver their message to recruits -- that you can expect to work your tail off to become the best you can be on and off the field and we'll work our tails off to help you succeed. If that's not what they're looking for, then it's actually best if they do go elsewhere. Bama ain't for everybody.

That being said, Dean has sounded like he gets that and appreciates its true value. But it's also common for kids to be swayed in various directions by the pitches made to them as they go through the recruiting process. We'll see how it all plays out with him. He'll either come full circle and decide that he buys into what Bama is offering to him or he won't. If he doesn't, I won't lose any of sleep over it.

I think that is why people fail to understand why Saban is in a league of his own. I have yet to hear a recruit say Saban was not upfront with what the expectations are. He tells them here is what is expected and what you need to do to see the field and be successful at UA on and off the field. If that does not fit what you are looking for find another program best for you.

It does not mean it always works out but Saban seems to take the kids that at least up front when they pledge are willing to buy in. Most seem to follow through and a few get processed. The issue other programs fail to grasp that sets UA a part they seem to over look if a player is willing to buy in and just take him assuming they can change the kid once he gets there to fit their program. Why so many even with highly rated recruiting classes under perform or seem to have so many off the field issues.

One of the reasons I do not get upset if a kid picks somewhere else because I trust saban is taking kids that are willing to buy in and want to be a part of the program not just kids because they are ranked high and are all about me, me , me attitudes. I know it can get frustrating from a fan’s point of view that follows recruiting to hear some top recruit say he has UA at the top or it is his dream offer but yet we do not push as hard or pick up some lower rated player to fill the same spot but Saban makes it all work out in the end so be it.

Expect incoming from UGA folks (and certain Alabama fans), they just took over the number one spot in the team recruiting rankings.

Got a text from my cousin at 6am this morning about recruiting. This explains it...he’s a UGA fan.

One of best friends texted me about it. They've gotten more lippy lately. Told him congrats, but attached this:

I thought Brandon kayo slipped in the rankings before NSD? do we go after him? I'm not worried about UGA having the number 1 class, don't they have like four 5 stars at this point. I think we win because they can only have like 22 in this class right?

Uga has 7 top 100 players with five 5 star players.

We have 7 top 100 players with one 5 star player.

I really don't know how many uga can take.

Don’t fret. Not worried about them. Trey Sanders, Daxton Hill, Sophser, Thibodaux, Clay Webb, Darnell Wright, Evan Neal, Nakobe Dean.

I also have a couple of Georgia friends that have gone out of their way to contact me about all their recruiting success this week.

Unreal. In the entirety of the Saban era I have never "reached out" to rub it in to anyone outside of Bama nation relative to recruiting.

Georgia truly is the definition of desperate for any kind of success which brings me to an interesting idea -

How much longer till one of these insanely desperate Georgia boosters goes rogue, and does something supremely stupid.

I know when Bama was at a similar point we almost had trouble with that fishing trip, and that crazy dude with the suit store at the mall.

Jus sayen... surprised if something doesn't pop up soon with this much desperation to win among the ranks.

Tide in top group for in-state DB
(BamaOnLine | embedded video)

quote:

The Crimson Tide made the top six for Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) cornerback Malachi Moore. The state of Alabama’s top defensive back in the the class of 2020 listed the Tide along with Auburn, Clemson, LSU, Florida and Tennessee as the other finalists.

Earlier this summer, Alabama put an offer on the table for the elite, in-state defensive back. At the time he said it was the offer he’s been waiting on. “It was because of the legacy Alabama has and because it’s in state,” Moore said. “The legacy Alabama has at my position in general and they put DBs in the league.”

Despite growing up a fan of the the Tide, Moore hasn’t rushed into a decision or even gone as far as naming UA his leader. “They’re up there,” he said of Alabama. “I’m just taking it slow right now, but I’m definitely going to be up there a lot more.”

Hewitt-Trussville has turned into somewhat of an Alabama pipeline in the 2019 and ’20 classes. Five-star offensive tackle Pierce Quick was the first Husky to commit to the Tide back in April of 2017. Four-star quarterback Paul Tyson joined the class 12 months later as did 2020 4-star receiver Dazalin Worsham who committed to Alabama prior to A-Day this past spring.

Tide offensive line coach Brent Key, a Hewitt-Trussville alum, recruits the area and is a coach prospects have often raved about, Moore included.

At 6-feet, 170 pounds, Moore is rated the No. 13 cornerback and the No. 148 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 247Sports Crystal Ball reads 100 percent in favor of the Crimson Tide based off of four predictions.

As is the case in 2019, the 2020 class looks to be another strong group in the state of Alabama.

The Tide has gotten a head start this spring and summer adding big names like 4-star defensive tackle Jayson Jones, the No. 1 player in the state out of Calera. Earlier this spring, 4-star inside linebacker Jackson Bratton, the No. 5 player in the state, committed to Alabama. And Dazalin Worsham, the No. 3 player in the state committed in April.

Other big targets in the cycle from within the state include 4-star athlete and Tennessee commit Kristian Story out of Lannett and 4-star running back Roydell Williams out of Hueytown.

The Tide currently sits with the No. 3 class in the country for 2020, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings behind No. 1 Miami and No. 2 hio State.

Uh oh, did we just jump you guys for the number one class on the 24/7 rankings?

You're slipping BAMA. It's ok, you guys had a hell of a run but it's coming undone now. It's honestly not your fault.

Alabama doesn't have better in state talent than we do, the degree at your University isn't as good and Athens is a better town. We should be recruiting like this.

You all better get prepared for the Shula days again because once Saban leaves, well....it was a good run.

Lol recruiting rankings don’t mean anything until you can redeem 2nd & 26.

We will, just like BAMA got torched by a white slot receiver from Clemson and ripped your hearts out.

Also, the game would have never gone to overtime if the refs didn't steal that punt block from us. We would have cashed it in and the game would've been over.

Literally the worst officiating I've ever seen in a championship game.

Anyway, you're all flailing now because you know its ending. We're on the rise and you're the past. That's ok, it happens.
