Read the OP:
ust got an email from the Crimson Tide Foundation asking for more donations. In the email it shows how much it cost for a student-athlete.

"This includes Scholarship, travel expenses, athletic facilities, equipment, nutritional expenses, and general operating expenses.
It doesn't include coaches salaries. "

I got the same email. It is specifically about the cost involved in running an athletic department.

Despite the rambling wall of text by the cluless Gator4lyfe, it does not claim that travel, etc. are benefits.

It's sole purpose is to point out that athletic departments are expensive to run and include many categories. Oh, and by the way, we'd appreciate some contributions to help all this out.

You sir are a dumb arse. Where did you get your education? Icantread U? The OP clearly says the cost of a Student Athlete. It does not say the cost of running an athletic department. Stop the bullshite. By saying the cost of an athlete, what they are saying is that it cost x amount to feed them, house them, clothes them, ship them to the next gladiator arena. For you along with some in this thread to then equate what it cost to what a scholarship is worth is disingenuous. The majority of this is NORMAL BUSINESS EXPENSES. This is the cost to do business. What they are not showing you is the massive fricking profits they are earning in said business. Sure, it cost money to travel 85 kids, hell maybe $1,000 each for a weekend game BUT the school will make millions for that one frickING game you dumb child. These universities have student athletes running and jumping for them and they want to point out what it cost? Yet, conveniently LEAVE OUT what it's worth? frick you!

Why didn't they just say that they need money to pay Nick Saban's $11 million fricking dollars every year? His one check could pay for all 85 players at the tune of $130k each. You have one man making more money than all 85 cost and you frickers want to say the athletes are well compensated. Ungrateful pricks.
