LSU does not suck, they had a bad game vs Troy. But, CEO did a fantastic job of getting his team re-focused, he got his staff on track and showed marked improvement beating the remaining 6 SEC teams to finish the season. LSU will destroy ND in the bowl game.

Losing to LSU is about like losing to Iowa and the committee took that into consideration. You can lose to a shite team and expect to get in the playoffs.

It is about time we called it what it is -- not a playoff, but an invitational. If college football fans are ok with this, then go with it. I would rather have a playoff that you play your way into.

BTW -- Auburn didn't win, so they shouldn't have been in it

UGA played their way in, and only made it because they won the conference. Bama played their way into consideration with the only loss of the season to a very strong AU team in JHS.

If you want to look at the "eye" test, my "eye" told me two weeks ago that Auburn is better than Alabama

Well based on this logic, your "eye" would have also had to tell you that Syracuse is better than Clemson and Iowa State is better than Oklahoma. Are you also upset that Syracuse and Iowa State aren't in the playoffs?

Lost to a team that lost to Troy.

All there is to it.

An auburn team that swoned Alabama with only losses to Clemson @clemson early in the season and Georgia with injuries and short turn-around after Bama would have presented the committee with quite the conundrum, because penalizing Auburn for the second loss would be punishing them for making it to the SECCG and rewarding Alabama for losing.

I honestly believe had Auburn not lost to LSU, OSU would have been picked in order to avoid the obvious hypocrisy in picking Bama over Auburn in that scenario.

Saban had to cry enough to get them in. He threatened to go back to the NFL if they didn't put the SEC West runner up in the playoff

Yes, it should be Auburn, Iowa State, Syracuse and Auburn, the four teams that beat the playoff teams.

What difference does it make?

They are in the CFP.

This isn't like the old days when championships were far more mythical and polls determined the champs without the top 4 teams facing off on the field at year's end.

The CFP isn't perfect but it's far better than what we had. FFS, BYU got to claim a natty by beating an unranked Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl and beating only one ranked team the entire season. Oddly enough, that one ranked team was a #3 ranked Pitt team that went on to finish the season 3-7-1. In other words, they were quite a bit worse than the #3 ranked FSU team Bama beat in their opener this year.
